cumulative vs incience rate

Modern Medicine does little to extend life
Elsevier: Article Locator Great article discussing how life is really only extended through smoking cessation, physical activity, stress reduction, weight control and good sleep. CABGs, Stents, Statins, etc have done almost nothing to extend life despite spending 100s of billions to trillions on this stuff. Interesting to think about. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

HDL CHOL ratio
So, it seems people regularly order this in my hospital. I don't use the ratio to decide statin initiation or dose and I do not understand what purpose this serves, I use the ASCVD risk calculator, am I missing something? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

US Task Force Recommends further INCREASED usage of statins despite no evidence
Once again, another "govt" agency is putting out policies with ZERO EBM that already costs approximately 17 billion/year in costs. Here is an analysis by independent researchers on the RCTs concerning statins: http://jcbmr.com/index.php/jcbmr/article/view/11/26 Clearly, statins have a NNT > 228 for primary prevention of MIs and are even not particularly beneficial in secondary prevention of MIs (NNT approximately 100). Yet the newest "recommendations" by the US Task Force on... US Task Force Recommends further INCREASED usage of statins despite no evidence (Source: Student Doctor Network)
