Plant-based meat analogues (PBMAs) and their effects on cardiometabolic health: An 8-week randomized controlled trial comparing PBMAs with their corresponding animal-based foods
CONCLUSIONS: A plant-based meat analogues diet did not show widespread cardiometabolic health benefits compared with omnivorous diets over 8 weeks. The composition of PBMAs may need to be considered in future trials.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: NCT05446753.PMID:38599522 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajcnut.2024.04.006 (Source: Am J Clin Nutr)

News media coverage of LGBT identities over 10 years in a 400-million-word corpus
ConclusionsPractically, we presented a decade-long barometer of LGBT sentiments and themes on a national level, providing a framework to analyze media for more effective communication strategies —applicable to Commonwealth countries with similar inherited colonial laws. Salient repetition through media association may unwittingly frame certain issues negatively; caution is prudent in representing each sub-group adequately, rather than portraying the LGBT identity as monolithic. An insight into emergence of lumpy skin disease virus: a threat to Indian cattle
Arch Microbiol. 2024 Apr 9;206(5):210. doi: 10.1007/s00203-024-03932-6.ABSTRACTLumpy skin disease (LSD) is a highly infectious and economically devastating viral disease of cattle. It is caused by Lumpy Skin Disease Virus (LSDV) belonging to the genus Capripoxvirus and family Poxviridae. The origin of lumpy skin disease has been traced to Zambia, (an African nation) in Southern part during the year 1929. The first reported case of LSD besides Africa was from Israel, a Middle Eastern nation, thus proving inter-continental spread. Subsequently, the disease entered Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia with numerous outbreaks ...

Ecological momentary assessment of digital food and beverage marketing exposure and impact in young adults: A feasibility study
Appetite. 2024 Apr 3:107338. doi: 10.1016/j.appet.2024.107338. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTUnhealthy food marketing is contributing to the obesity epidemic, but real-time insights into the mechanisms of this relationship are under-studied. Digital marketing is growing and following food and beverage (F&B) brands on social media is common, but measurement of exposure and impact of such marketing presents novel challenges. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of collecting data on exposure and impact of digital F&B marketing (DFM) using a smartphone-based ecological momentary assessment (EMA) methodol...

Evaluation of vaccine effectiveness of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines in children: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Both partial and full immunization of the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine provide benefits in reducing infection rates. VE varies over time and is closely associated with viral mutations and waning immunity. The specific mechanisms require further investigation.PMID:38567617 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35764 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)
