Resolvin D2-GPR18 Enhances Bone Marrow Function and Limits Steatosis and Hepatic Collagen Accumulation in Aging
Am J Pathol. 2023 Sep 15:S0002-9440(23)00322-X. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpath.2023.08.011. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAging is associated with non-resolving inflammation and tissue dysfunction. Resolvin D2 (RvD2) is a pro-resolving ligand that acts through the G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) called GPR18. Unbiased RNA sequencing revealed increased Gpr18 expression in macrophages from old mice, and in livers from elderly humans, which was associated with increased steatosis and fibrosis in middle-aged (MA) and old mice. MA mice that lack GPR18 on myeloid cells had exacerbated steatosis and hepatic fibrosis, which was associate...

New algorithm for the analysis of nucleotide and amino acid evolutionary relationships based on Klein four-group
We present a Klein four-group algorithm (K4A) for the evolutionary analysis of nucleotide and amino acid sequences. Klein four-group set of operators consists of: identity e (U), and three elements-a = transition (C), b = transversion (G) and c = transition-transversion or complementarity (A). We generated Klein four-group based distance matrices of: 1. Cayley table (CK4), 2. Table rows (K4R), 3. Table columns (K4C), and 4. Euclidean 2D distance (K4E). The performance of the matrices was tested on a dataset of RecA proteins in bacteria, eukaryotes (Rad51 homolog) and archaea (RadA homolog). RecA and its functional homologs...

Carboplatin-induced upregulation of pan β-tubulin and class III β-tubulin is implicated in acquired resistance and cross-resistance of ovarian cancer
Cell Mol Life Sci. 2023 Sep 17;80(10):294. doi: 10.1007/s00018-023-04943-0.ABSTRACTResistance to platinum- and taxane-based chemotherapy represents a major obstacle to long-term survival in ovarian cancer (OC) patients. Here, we studied the interplay between acquired carboplatin (CBP) resistance using two OC cell models, MES-OV CBP and SK-OV-3 CBP, and non-P-glycoprotein-mediated cross-resistance to paclitaxel (TAX) observed only in MES-OV CBP cells. Decreased platination, mesenchymal-like phenotype, and increased expression of α- and γ-tubulin were observed in both drug-resistant variants compared with parental cells. B...

Curettage and colour-A technique for defining tumour depth on the ear in the Mohs and non-Mohs setting
Australas J Dermatol. 2023 Sep 15. doi: 10.1111/ajd.14158. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFor tumours of the ear that are suspected to involve auricular cartilage, precise definition of the extent of involved deep margin can be difficult. As large resections of cartilage can be cosmetically disfiguring with limited repair options, we propose a simple and effective technique to facilitate a targeted deep margin resection using a curette and a surgical marking pen.PMID:37715356 | DOI:10.1111/ajd.14158

Live cell transcription-coupled nucleotide excision repair dynamics revisited
In this study, we employ knock-in cell lines designed to target the endogenous CSB gene locus with mClover, a GFP variant. Through live cell imaging, we uncover the intricate molecular dynamics of CSB in response to physiologically relevant UV doses. We showed that the DNA damage-induced association of CSB with chromatin is tightly regulated by the CSA-containing ubiquitin-ligase CRL complex (CRL4CSA). Combining the CSB-mClover knock-in cell line with SILAC-based GFP-mediated complex isolation and mass-spectrometry-based proteomics, revealed novel putative CSB interactors as well as discernible variations in complex compos...

The repair and regeneration mechanism of platelet-rich fibrin-promoting tissue after alveolar bone defect through the notch pathway
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Jul 31;69(7):85-90. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.7.14.ABSTRACTThis work investigated the effects of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) combined with bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) on the repair of alveolar bone defect (ABD) and the related mechanism of the Notch1/Wnt3a signaling pathway. 28 healthy male New Zealand white rabbits were selected to prepare the BMSCs and PRF. Rabbits were rolled into a combination group (implanted with PRF + BMSCs for treatment), a PRF group (treated with PRF) a BMSC group (BMSCs for treatment), and a control group (Ctrl group, no material implantation), with 7 r...
