Oteseconazole for the Treatment of Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis: A Drug Review
CONCLUSIONS: Oteseconazole is an effective and safe treatment option for the management of RVVC though current research lacks comparison with established maintenance regimens. Additional research is needed to ascertain the placement of oteseconazole in the treatment of RVVC.PMID:37650387 | DOI:10.1177/10600280231195649

Developing Antiracist Social Work Practice at a Comprehensive Cancer Center
This article describes the efforts undertaken by a Social Work Department at a comprehensive cancer center in response to a call to develop antiracist practice. This article recounts the process of creating educational opportunities for oncology social workers to help them identify bias and racism in themselves and throughout the healthcare system, to embrace intentional antiracist practice, and to better advocate for BIPOC/AAPI patients and colleagues. The strategies included the development of an antiracism committee, the use of a social location exercise to influence and disrupt white supremacy, the creation of communit...

Battling the Matthew Effect: Can Search Results be Fair?
Search engines are mediators between producers and consumers of information, and the order in which an engine presents its results affects both stakeholder groups in significant ways (e.g., economic livelihood). Top-ranked items provide their producers with much more exposure to the consumer than do lower-ranked items. If a search engine repeatedly returns comparably relevant items in the same order, the rich (more exposed) items will keep getting richer while lower-ranked items will get less and less relative exposure. The Text REtrieval Conference (TREC, trec.nist.gov) project at NIST contained a Fair Ranking track from...

The drivers of non-adherence to albuminuria testing guidelines and the clinical and economic impact of not identifying chronic kidney disease
CONCLUSION: This systematic review demonstrates a gap in evidence exploring the drivers of non-adherence to albuminuria testing guidelines and the impact of not identifying patients in the early stages of CKD. Guideline-recommended testing allows timely identification, referral, and treatment for patients with, or at risk of, CKD, providing the best chance of avoiding the worsened outcomes identified in this review.PMID:37644841 | DOI:10.5414/CN111106

A systematic database search was performed in September 2021 to retrieve literature published from 2007 onwards, with forty-three papers meeting the inclusion criteria. These papers included research articles, book chapters, conference papers and commentaries, with the majority origina...

The future of pyrogenicity testing: Phasing out the rabbit pyrogen test. A meeting report
Biologicals. 2023 Aug 27;84:101702. doi: 10.1016/j.biologicals.2023.101702. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe rabbit pyrogen test (RPT) was the benchmark for pyrogenicity testing, but scientific advancements have provided innovative and humane methods, such as the in vitro monocyte-activation test (MAT). However, transitioning from the RPT to the MAT has been challenging. The European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare, the Council of Europe, and the European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing jointly hosted an international conference entitled "The future of pyrogenicity testin...
