Battling the Matthew Effect: Can Search Results be Fair?
Search engines are mediators between producers and consumers of information, and the order in which an engine presents its results affects both stakeholder groups in significant ways (e.g., economic livelihood). Top-ranked items provide their producers with much more exposure to the consumer than do lower-ranked items. If a search engine repeatedly returns comparably relevant items in the same order, the rich (more exposed) items will keep getting richer while lower-ranked items will get less and less relative exposure.

The drivers of non-adherence to albuminuria testing guidelines and the clinical and economic impact of not identifying chronic kidney disease
CONCLUSION: This systematic review demonstrates a gap in evidence exploring the drivers of non-adherence to albuminuria testing guidelines and the impact of not identifying patients in the early stages of CKD. Guideline-recommended testing allows timely identification, referral, and treatment for patients with, or at risk of, CKD, providing the best chance of avoiding the worsened outcomes identified in this review.PMID:37644841 | DOI:10.5414/CN111106
