Surgical interventions for symptomatic mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis.
CONCLUSIONS: The review found no placebo-or sham-controlled trials of surgery in participants with symptomatic mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis. There was low quality evidence that there may be no evidence of a difference between arthroscopic partial meniscectomy surgery and a home exercise program for the treatment of this condition. Similarly, low-quality evidence from a few small trials indicates there may not be any benefit of arthroscopic surgery over other non-surgical treatments including saline irrigation and hyaluronic acid injection, or one type of surgery over another. Interventions for treating urinary incontinence after stroke in adults.
CONCLUSIONS: There is insufficient evidence to guide continence care of adults in the rehabilitative phase after stroke. As few trials tested the same intervention, conclusions are drawn from few, usually small, trials. CIs were wide, making it difficult to ascertain if there were clinically important differences. Predictors of the Functional Abilities in Individuals with Stroke after Home Physical Therapy Program.
Conclusion: The ability to perform ADL in stroke patients was greatly explained by the ability to maintain positions at the time of discharging from the rehabilitation program at home. Other outcomes contributed in the different manners compared to the time of starting rehabilitation program.

Acupuncture for acute stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: This updated review indicates that apparently improved outcomes with acupuncture in acute stroke are confounded by the risk of bias related to use of open controls. Adverse events related to acupuncture were reported to be minor and usually did not result in stopping treatment. Future studies are needed to confirm or refute any effects of acupuncture in acute stroke. Video evidence of improved hand function following repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with physical therapy in stroke: a case report

In a 46‐year‐old female 6 months poststroke who presented with minimal paretic hand function, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), and exercises considerably improved her function beyond that accomplished with conventional rehabilitation. However, intermittent rTMS (2 sessions/week) was required to sustain the benefits. Research is required to determine the critical frequency of intermittent rTMS needed to sustain functional gains long term.

Cerebrolysin and early neurorehabilitation in patients with acute ischemic stroke: a prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study.

Health-related quality of life in first-ever stroke patients
CONCLUSION: In this study, we found that age and functional status had a powerful influence on HRQOL. Comprehensive therapy programs aimed to improve HRQOL should focus on improving functional disability, particularly in older stroke patients. There is a need for long-term follow-up studies in stroke patients throughout all recovery stages to evaluate HRQOL in more detail.

Efficiency of physical therapy on postural imbalance after stroke: study protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis
This study will aim at determining the effects of PT on the function (WBA, COP, LOS), the activity (BBS, PASS) and the independence of patients. Subgroup analyses will be planned according to the location of brain lesion (hemispheric, brainstem or cerebellum), the time since stroke (early, late, chronic), the PT (type, main aim (direct effect or generalisation), overall duration), the type of approaches (top-down or bottom-up) and the methodological quality of studies.

This study is a sham-controlled, double-blind, randomized clinical trial aiming to evaluate the efficacy of transcranial direct current stimulation in activities of daily living and motor function post subacute stroke. Modeling factors predictive of functional improvement following acute stroke
Conclusion Functional status prior to stroke and motivation are predictive of functional outcome at 3 months and 6 months poststroke. We have provided a formula that can be used to predict a patient’s progress and then set treatment goals and programs accordingly.

Physical rehabilitation approaches for the recovery of function and mobility following stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Physical rehabilitation, comprising a selection of components from different approaches, is effective for recovery of function and mobility after stroke. Evidence related to dose of physical therapy is limited by substantial heterogeneity and does not support robust conclusions.
