Neurophysiological Analysis of Intermanual Transfer in Motor Learning
In this study, MEPs were induced during the subject’s imaged kinesthetic MI. This involves recalling muscle contraction based on a muscle sensory image and was reported to indicate the activity of brain regions similar to those involved in actual muscle contraction (Ruby and Decety, 2001). In the transfer training group, the muscle sensory image evaluation correlated to the actual task execution with the right hand. Effects of low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and neuromuscular electrical stimulation on upper extremity motor recovery in the early period after stroke: a preliminary study.
CONCLUSION: LF-rTMS with or without NMES seems to facilitate the motor recovery in the paretic hand of patients with acute/subacute ischemic stroke. TMS or the combination of TMS + NMES may be a promising additional therapy in upper limb motor training. Does outcome of neuropsychological treatment in patients with unilateral spatial neglect after stroke affect functional outcome?
CONCLUSIONS: The outcome of the whole rehabilitation resulted affected by the outcome of neuropsychological treatment in patients with USN, being a low score at Barrage test at the beginning of therapy a negative predictor of USN recovery. CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: Patients with USN after stroke can benefit of a specific training for reducing USN also in terms of functional outcome. Vascular Elasticity and Grip Strength Are Associated With Bone Health of the Hemiparetic Radius in Chronic Stroke: Implications for Rehabilitation.
CONCLUSIONS: Both the integrity of the vasculature and muscle strength were significantly associated with the bone strength index at the hemiparetic radius diaphysis among people with chronic stroke.
