Outcomes of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement in Patients Treated With Systemic Steroids
CONCLUSION: Chronic steroid therapy increases the risk of aortic annular complications in patients undergoing TAVR, with detrimental consequences including intraoperative cardiac arrest and conversion to open heart surgery. Steroid use should be considered in patient selection and determination of procedural technique for TAVR.PMID:34982726

Levamisole-Induced Leukoencephalopathy in Russia: Analysis of 30 Cases
CONCLUSION: The differential diagnosis remains difficult for suspected cases of LEV-induced MIL that could lead to delayed therapy initiation, and consequently incomplete recovery. Growing evidence suggests that a single administration of levamisole even in low doses might potentially lead to severe neurological deficit or death. Therefore, changes in medication management policies are required in order to prevent uncontrolled use of levamisole.PMID:34951579 | DOI:10.2174/1574886317666211224121517

Percutaneous Left Atrial Appendage Closure in a Patient with Diffuse Alveolar Hemorrhaging Associated with Anticoagulant Therapy and Atrial Fibrillation: A Case Report
Intern Med. 2021 Nov 27. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.8551-21. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiffuse alveolar hemorrhaging (DAH) due to oral anticoagulation (OAC) is a life-threatening condition that leads to severe respiratory failure. There is a clinical dilemma in that OAC-induced DAH often forces the discontinuation of OAC therapy and the administration of high-dose corticosteroids, which increases the risk of stroke and cardiovascular events. We herein report the first case of OAC-induced DAH and atrial fibrillation (AF) in a patient who completely discontinued OAC therapy and high-dose corticosteroids after experien...
