Extending the role of peritoneal dialysis: can we win hearts and minds?
Conclusion Both these applications require substantial further clinical evaluation before they can justify wider adoption but their potential to alleviate morbidity on a large and potentially highly cost-effective scale demands further study.

Health state utilities associated with major clinical events in the context of secondary hyperparathyroidism and chronic kidney disease requiring dialysis

Regulation of the epithelial Na+ channel by the mTORC2/SGK1 pathway
The epithelial Na+ channel (ENaC) is decisive for sodium reabsorption by the aldosterone-sensitive distal nephron (ASDN) of the kidney. ENaC is regulated by the serum- and glucocorticoid-inducible kinase 1 (SGK1), a kinase genomically upregulated by several hormones including glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids. Utility of the Surgical Apgar Score in Kidney Transplantation: Is it Feasible to Predict ICU Admission, Hospital Readmission, Length of Stay, and Cost in This Patient Population?
Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that a history of stroke in the recipient may lend to a lower SAS and that a low SAS is associated with ICU admission following transplant, leading to higher hospital costs.

Left ventricular assist device exchange for the treatment of HeartMate II pump thrombosis.

Prognostic significance of right ventricular hypertrophy and systolic function in Anderson –Fabry disease
ConclusionsRVH and RV systolic function show significant association with clinical events in AFD, but only proteinuria and left ventricular mass index emerged as independent predictors of outcome. Our findings suggest that RV involvement does not influence prognosis in AFD and confirm that renal involvement and left ventricular hypertrophy are the main determinant of major cardiac and non ‐cardiac events.
