Abstract Heart failure (HF) increases the risk of ischemic stroke. Data regarding the incidence and predictors of ischemic stroke during hospitalization for HF are limited. The study population of this retrospective cohort study consisted of patients with congestive HF, consecutively admitted to our center from October 2010 to April 2014. Validated Risk Score for Predicting 6-Month Mortality in Infective Endocarditis Valvular Heart Disease
Conclusions Six-month mortality after IE is 25% and is predicted by host factors, IE characteristics, and IE complications. Surgery during the index hospitalization is associated with lower mortality but is performed less frequently in the highest risk patients. A simplified risk model may be used to identify specific risk subgroups in IE.

Trends and outcomes of infective endocarditis in patients on dialysis
We examined outcomes of 44 816 patients with IE on dialysis and 202 547 patients with IE not on dialysis from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample database from 2006 thorough 2011. Dialysis patients were younger (59 ± 15 years vs 62 ± 18 years) and more likely to be female (47% vs 40%) and African‐American (47% vs 40%; all P < 0.001). Hospitalizations for IE in the dialysis group increased from 175 to 222 per 10 000 patients (P trend = 0.04). Mitral valve prosthesis choice in patients < 70 years: A systematic review and meta ‐analysis of 20 219 patients
ConclusionMechanical MVR in patients aged less than 70 years is associated with a lower risk of operative mortality as well as a 20% lower risk of long ‐term death and 65% lower risk of mitral valve reoperation but 60% greater risk of bleeding compared with bioMVR in matched or adjusted data.
