Incidence of Thromboembolic Complications Following Kidney Transplantation with Short and Extended Aspirin Prophylaxis: A Retrospective Single-Center Study
CONCLUSIONS Extended-duration aspirin use did not significantly reduce the incidence of VTE in the first 6 weeks following kidney transplantation. The relation between coronavirus 2019 disease (COVID-19) and thrombotic events is well established, and both arterial and venous thrombotic events are described. Although arterial events occur in about 3.6 to 10.5% of critically ill patients, they are usually stroke or acute myocardial infarction. Arterial thrombosis of other sites is rare.

Transplant Radical Nephrectomy and Transplant Radical Nephroureterectomy for Renal Cancer: Postoperative and Survival Outcomes.
CONCLUSIONS This study reports outcomes of the largest series of transplant radical nephrectomy and nephroureterectomy for malignancies of renal allografts. Increased Mean Platelet Volume is Associated with Decreased Survival in Patients Supported with Impella
Increased mean platelet volume (MPV) has been associated with elevated risk of stroke and myocardial infarction in the general population and stroke/pump thrombosis in Heartmate II recipients. It has been proposed that contact with foreign surfaces and centrifugation promote prothrombotic states with platelet activation and increased MPV. An association between MPV and outcomes of patients treated with percutaneous short-term circulatory devices has not been investigated.

Complications of veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for refractory cardiogenic shock or cardiac arrest.
CONCLUSION: Although veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation can improve the survival, it is associated with morbidity. Therefore, risk-benefit analysis for veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and prevention of complications are important to improve prognosis. Hospitalizations for cardiovascular disease after liver transplantation in the United States
Conclusions: CVD after liver transplant is evolving and responsible for growing rates of inpatient care. Transplant hospitals are associated with poor outcomes, even after risk adjustment for patient and hospital characteristics, which may be attributable to selective referral of certain patient phenotypes, but could also be related to differences in quality of care.
