Temporal trends of case-fatality in patients undergoing dual-injection coronary chronic total occlusion recanalization
ConclusionAnnual number of CTO procedures performed in Germany increased from 2009 to 2020 with a concomitant anti-proportional decrease in the case-fatality. Our findings may help to draw more attention to predictors of in-hospital case fatality in patients hospitalized for CTO recanalization.Graphical abstract

Study of arterial pressure levels at consultation in treated hypertensive Algerian patients
CONCLUSION: PACT II has made it possible to update national data relating to hypertension in Algeria. It confirmed the low level of achievement of the BP target, even if the average arterial pressure level obtained was acceptable in 76% patients with a BP level which was lower than 140 mmHg for SBP and less than 90 mmHg for DBP. Many efforts must be made, according to WHO recommendations, to improve the management of hypertensive patients and BP control in Algeria.PMID:37536041 | DOI:10.1016/j.ancard.2023.101631

One-year readmissions for circulatory diseases and in-hospital mortality after an index episode of heart failure in elderly patients. A nationwide data from public hospitals in Spain between 2016 and 2018
ConclusionsThe readmission rate for CSD 1-year after the index episode of HF in patients  ≥ 75 years was 28.4%. The cumulative in-hospital mortality rate during the readmissions was 26.9%, and the number of rehospitalizations was identified as one of the main predictors of mortality.Graphical abstract

MELD-score for risk stratification in cardiac surgery
AbstractThe outcome of the patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is also influenced by the renal and hepatic organ functions. Risk stratification, using scores such as EURO Score II or STS Short-Term Risk Calculator for patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass, ignores the quantitative renal and hepatic function; therefore, MELD-Score was applied in these cases. We retrospectively examined patient data using the MELD score as a predictor of mortality. To perform a univariate analysis of the data, patients were classified into three groups based on the MELD Score: MELD ...

Exploring the Relationship Between Efpeglenatide Dose and Cardiovascular Outcomes in Type 2 Diabetes: Insights From the AMPLITUDE-O Trial
CONCLUSIONS: The graded salutary relationship between efpeglenatide dose and cardiovascular outcomes suggests that titrating efpeglenatide and potentially other glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists to high doses may maximize their cardiovascular and renal benefits.REGISTRATION: URL: https://www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov; Unique identifier: NCT03496298.PMID:36802715 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.122.063716

Valve-Sparing Aortic Root Replacement Technique: Valsalva Graft versus Two Straight Tubular Grafts
CONCLUSIONS: The Valsalva and two-graft techniques both have excellent short- and mid-term outcomes. The two-graft technique might have slightly better survival and freedom from reoperation, but a larger sample size and longer follow-up are needed to determine if these advantages are significant.PMID:36776960 | PMC:PMC9918367 | DOI:10.1155/2023/4076881
