CDC: Meeting of the Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will hold a virtual public meeting of the Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF) on June 9-10, 2021. The CPSTF is charged with identifying community preventive programs, services, and policies that increase healthy longevity and improve quality of life while saving money. Agenda items include deliberation on systematic reviews of the literature on HIV prevention; heart disease and stroke prevention; and nutrition, physical activity, and obesity.

CDC: Proposed Data Collection Submitted for Public Comment and Recommendations
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking comments on an information collection related to the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) for the 2022-2024 period. The CDC proposes revising the BRFSS to include questions on the following topics: COVID vaccination, impact of the COVID pandemic, periodontal disease, additional questions on heart attack and stroke, disaster/pandemic preparedness, veterans' health and the use of newly available tobacco products. Comments are due by May 11, 2021.

Training novice users to assess stroke aetiology in remote settings using transcranial ultrasound: pilot study.
CONCLUSIONS: Transcranial ultrasound scans of a quality to allow expert interpretation can be acquired by inexperienced transcranial ultrasound operators after receiving a brief training. This could potentially be used by medical staff working in remote and rural areas to facilitate acute care for stroke patients, but further work with a larger sample is needed. Functional dependence among older adults: a cross-sectional study with a rural population of southern Brazil.
CONCLUSION: Older adults in rural areas have a high prevalence of functional dependence. Knowledge of functional dependence and associated factors in rural populations is necessary for the planning and developing actions, especially in the routine of primary care, which promote health and prevent or postpone the decline in functional capacity. Relation between index of cardioelectrophysiological balance and stroke severity in patients with acute ischemic stroke
Conclusion: Our results suggested that iCEB is associated with stroke severity on admission in patients with acute ischemic stroke. It is known that high iCEB is associated with torsade de pointes (TdP), ventricular tachycardia.

Conclusion: MHR is significantly associated with CVD in COPD patients. Further prospective studies are warranted to elucidate the predictive value of MHR in COPD patients.

Challenges of delivering evidence-based stroke services for rural areas in Australia.
CONCLUSION: Evidence-based stroke care, aligned with current national standards is the key to providing adequate stroke services in rural Australia. Improved health service resourcing and better utilisation of currently available resources are options for achieving elements of evidence-based stroke care. IMPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH: Availability of adequate services for stroke patients directly impacts public health as it determines health outcomes for these patients. The effect of emotional distress on functional outcomes in acute stroke patients
Conclusion: The results of the study showed that acute stroke patients with a good emotional state had better functional outcomes. It can be concluded that evaluating the emotional state and existing problems while planning of rehabilitation programs will make a positive contribution to both the functional and emotional states of acute stroke patients.

Urban-rural comparisons in health risk factor, health status and outcomes in Tianjin, China: A cross-sectional survey (2009-2013).
CONCLUSION: Contrary to Australian urban-rural survey outcomes, the health status and outcomes of residents in rural areas of Tianjin seemed to be better than those of their counterparts in urban areas. Clinical observation in edaravone treatment for acute cerebral infarction
Conclusion: Edaravone can significantly improve the degree of neurological impairment during acute cerebral infarction, functional movement, and living quality with a definite effect and high safety. Thus, this drug has a good prospect in clinical treatment.
