High miR-126-3p levels associated with cardiovascular events in a general population
CONCLUSIONS: An increased plasma microRNAs profile was identified in hypertensive patients with albuminuria. Increased miR-126-3p suggest it may serve as a prognostic marker for cardiovascular events in a long-term general population. Further studies will assess the potential role of miR-126-3p as a guide for the status of endothelial dysfunction.PMID:37080818 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2023.04.013

Research on Hepatocyte Regulation of PCSK9-LDLR and Its Related Drug Targets
AbstractThe prevalence of hyperlipidemia has increased significantly due to genetic, dietary, nutritional and pharmacological factors, and has become one of the most common pathological conditions in humans. Hyperlipidemia can lead to a range of diseases such as atherosclerosis, stroke, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, diabetes, and kidney failure, etc. High circulating low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is one of the causes of hyperlipidemia. LDL-C in the blood binds to LDL receptor (LDLR) and regulates cholesterol homeostasis through endocytosis. In contrast, proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin ...

Outcome of transcatheter atrial septal defect closure in a nationwide cohort
CONCLUSION: After TC closure of ASD, patients had a higher risk of new-onset atrial fibrillation and migraine than controls without ASD. As novel findings, we found an increased risk for ischemic heart disease, AV conduction disorders, and ventricular fibrillation/tachycardia.Key messagesEven though patients have an excellent overall prognosis after percutaneous ASD closure, the increased incidence of major comorbidities like atrial fibrillation and heart failure prompts more thorough lifelong follow-up.This study's novel findings revealed the increased risk for ischemic heart disease, AV conduction disorders, or ventricul...

Bereavement in childhood and young adulthood and the risk of atrial fibrillation: a population-based cohort study from Denmark and Sweden
Adverse childhood life events are associated with increased risks of hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and stroke later in life. Limited evidence also suggests that stress in adulthood may increase the ris...

Updates in the diagnosis and management of Takayasu's arteritis
This article aims to describe to the reader key features of Takayasu's arteritis and highlights updated evidence in the diagnosis and management of these patients. We also review the 2021 ACR guidelines for Takayasu's arteritis and correlate them to the updated evidence discussed throughout the review. An extensive literature search was conducted via PUBMED, including the words 'Takayasu's diagnostic criteria,' 'Takayasu's treatment,' 'Takayasu's diagnosis,' 'Takayasu's imaging', and 'Takayasu's diagnostic criteria.' Search was filtered to include clinical trials, randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-...
