Efficacy of ablation therapy on clinical outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Ablation significantly reduces the risk of stroke, cardiovascular mortality, all-cause mortality, and HF in AF patients, compared with medical therapy alone, supporting its use in clinical practice.PMID:37663739 | PMC:PMC10473299 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000000985

Effects of Compound Danshen Dripping Pills on Ventricular Remodeling and Cardiac Function after Acute Anterior Wall ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (CODE-AAMI): Protocol for a Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial
This study is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CDDP in improving ventricular remodeling and cardiac function after AAMI on a larger scale.MethodsThis study is a multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group clinical trial. The total of 268 patients with AAMI after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) will be randomly assigned 1:1 to the CDDP group (n=134) and control group (n=134) with a follow-up of 48 weeks. Both groups will be treated with standard therapy of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), with the CDDP group administrating 20 tablets of CDDP ...

Predictive value of Killip classification in MINOCA patients
CONCLUSIONS: Killip classification confirmed its prognostic impact on short- and long-term outcomes also in a selected MINOCA population, which still craves for a baseline risk stratification.PMID:37596114 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2023.08.011

Aortic stiffness plays a role in the discrepancy between mitral valve lesion severity and hemodynamic burden of secondary mitral regurgitation
CONCLUSION: In this HFrEF cohort with sMR, higher PWV was associated with higher-than-expected RF for a given EROA. Aortic stiffness might play a role in the discrepancy between mitral valve lesion severity and sMR hemodynamic burden.PMID:37393182 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2023.06.024

Inflammatory markers in patients with hypertension
Br J Hosp Med (Lond). 2023 May 2;84(5):1-8. doi: 10.12968/hmed.2022.0531. Epub 2023 May 22.ABSTRACTHypertension is a chronic disease with high levels of morbidity and disability. Elevated blood pressure can lead to many complications and is the main risk factor for stroke, heart failure and nephropathy. Factors associated with hypertension and inflammatory response differ from those associated with vascular inflammation. The immune system plays a vital role in the pathophysiology of hypertension. Inflammation is particularly relevant in the progression of cardiovascular diseases, which has led to extensive research on infl...
