Atypical prosopagnosia following right hemispheric stroke: A 23-year follow-up study with M.T
Cogn Neuropsychol. 2022 May-Jun;39(3-4):196-207. doi: 10.1080/02643294.2022.2119838.ABSTRACTMost findings on prosopagnosia to date suggest preserved voice recognition in prosopagnosia (except in cases with bilateral lesions). Here we report a follow-up examination on M.T., suffering from acquired prosopagnosia following a large unilateral right-hemispheric lesion in frontal, parietal, and anterior temporal areas excluding core ventral occipitotemporal face areas. Twenty-three years after initial testing we reassessed face and object recognition skills [Henke, K., Schweinberger, S. R., Grigo, A., Klos, T., & Sommer, W. ...

The Role of Depressive Disorders in Autonomic Cardiovascular Dysregulation in Fibromyalgia
This study investigated the role of comorbid depression in autonomic cardiovascular dysregulations in fibromyalgia. Methods Cardiovascular recordings were obtained in 53 participants with fibromyalgia who also had depression (n = 27), in participants with fibromyalgia without depression (n = 26), and in 29 healthy controls, at rest and during a cold pressor test and an arithmetic task. Assessed parameters included interbeat interval, blood pressure, heart rate variability, baroreflex sensitivity, stroke volume, preejection period, left ventricular ejection time, Heather index, and total peripheral resistance. Hong Kong Chinese character psycholinguistic norms: ratings of 4376 single Chinese characters on semantic radical transparency, age-of-acquisition, familiarity, imageability, and concreteness
This study presents subjective ratings of age-of-acquisition (AoA), familiarity, imageability, concreteness, and semantic radical transparency in 4376 Chinese characters. The single Chinese characters were rated individually on the five dimensions by 20 native Cantonese speakers in Hong Kong to form the Hong Kong Chinese Character Psycholinguistic Norms (HKCCPN). The split-half reliability and intra-class correlations testified to the high internal reliability of the ratings. Their convergent and discriminant patterns in relations to other psycholinguistic measures echoed previous findings reported on Chinese. There were h...

Validation of and Normative Data of the DVAQ-30, a New Video-Naming Test for Assessing Verb Anomia
CONCLUSIONS: The DVAQ-30 fills an important gap and has the potential to help clinicians and researchers better detect verb anomia associated with pathological aging and post-stroke aphasia.PMID:35901465 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acac052

Association between history of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder diagnosis and cardiovascular disease in U.S. adults.
Conclusions: In a nationally representative sample of U.S. adults, we found a significant, positive association between a history of ADHD diagnosis and CVD. Further investigation is needed to replicate our findings and determine the underlying mechanisms. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2022 APA, all rights reserved)

Impaired empathic accuracy following damage to the left hemisphere
Biol Psychol. 2022 Jun 14:108380. doi: 10.1016/j.biopsycho.2022.108380. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFailing to understand others accurately can be extremely costly. Unfortunately, events such as strokes can lead to a decline in emotional understanding. Such impairments have been documented in stroke patients and are widely hypothesized to be related to right-hemisphere lesions, as well as to the amygdala, and are thought to be driven in part by attentional biases, for example, less fixation on the eyes. Notably, most of the previous research relied on measurements of emotional understanding from simplified cues, such as ...
