Stroking trajectory shapes velocity effects on pleasantness and other touch percepts.
Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, Vol 49(1), Jan 2023, 71-86; doi:10.1037/xhp0001079Research has identified an inverted u-shaped relationship between the pleasantness of arm stroking and stroking velocity. However, the generalizability of this relationship is questionable as much of the work relied on the rotary tactile stimulator (RTS), which strokes skin with force varying along an arc and confounds stimulus velocity with duration. We explored how these parameters shape the subjective evaluation of touch. In Study 1, one group of participants was stroked by the RTS, while two other gro...

Pregnancy-related stroke through a neuropsychology lens
Conclusions: Pregnancy-related stroke can be associated with marked functional disability and decreased quality of life, and it is notable that prevalence rates are increasing. Presenting at a time when people are experiencing adjustment to a new phase of life, and most commonly affecting women of color and other vulnerable populations, pregnancy-related stroke is a unique condition warranting special attention within the broader stroke discourse. This review aims to serve as a starting point for neuropsychologists to better understand the unique attributes of pregnancy-related stroke through a neuropsychology lens. Beyond...

Atypical prosopagnosia following right hemispheric stroke: A 23-year follow-up study with M.T
Cogn Neuropsychol. 2022 May-Jun;39(3-4):196-207. doi: 10.1080/02643294.2022.2119838.ABSTRACTMost findings on prosopagnosia to date suggest preserved voice recognition in prosopagnosia (except in cases with bilateral lesions). Here we report a follow-up examination on M.T., suffering from acquired prosopagnosia following a large unilateral right-hemispheric lesion in frontal, parietal, and anterior temporal areas excluding core ventral occipitotemporal face areas. Twenty-three years after initial testing we reassessed face and object recognition skills [Henke, K., Schweinberger, S. R., Grigo, A., Klos, T., & Sommer, W. ...
