Background: Sarcopenia is a condition characterized by a progressive generalized loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength. The most common nutritional problem that predisposes an ischemic stroke (IS) is sarcopenia. In patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), sarcopenia may represent the common downstream pathway that, from motor and non-motor symptoms leads to the progressive loss of resilience, frailty, and disability.

Cardiocerebrovascular risk in sensorineural hearing loss: results from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2015 to 2018
ConclusionOur findings suggested that a higher cardiocerebrovascular risk burden was associated with an increased risk of SNHL, and the relationship may be influenced by age and sex. Future longitudinal studies are needed to investigate the mechanistic and pathologic vascular hypothesis of SNHL.

Post-stroke dysphagia (PSD) is a common complication after stroke. Malnutrition inhibits stroke recovery and is associated with stroke mortality. However, no studies have investigated the effects of nutritional state at admission on prolonged PSD.

Association between hysterectomy status and stroke risk and cause-specific and all-cause mortality: evidence from the 2005 –2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey
ConclusionOur study found a significant association between hysterectomy and stroke, even after adjusting for other factors that could impact risk, such as the American Heart Association (AHA)'s Life's Simple 7 cardiovascular health score and variables of age, ethnicity, marital status, income, education, and depression severity.

Imbalance of Microbacterial Diversity Is Associated with Functional Prognosis of Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Stroke generates extensive and substantial alterations in the gut microbiota and SCFAs, according to our findings. The differences of intestinal flora and lower fecal SCFA levels are closely related to the physical function, intestinal function, pain, or nutritional status of poststroke patients.
