Identifying gaps in the management of atrial fibrillation with anticoagulation for stroke prevention (GIANTS): a quality improvement initiative
ConclusionsAwareness of this finding is critical to overcome therapeutic inertia in the use of DOACs for ischemic stroke patients with AF. With stroke care becoming increasingly nuanced, peripheral centers may lack the ability to guide anticoagulation in a timely and effective manner. Creation of tertiary short-term follow-up stroke clinics with cardiology follow-up may be an effective strategy to ensure standard of care. Research into systems contributors affecting the appropriate use of DOACs should be elucidated.

Risk Factors of New Cerebral Infarctions After Endovascular Treatment for Basilar Artery Stenosis Based on High-Resolution Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Conclusion: The plaque characteristics are not associated with new cerebral infarctions in the distribution of BA, although a large plaque burden and positive remodeling are more likely to appear in patients with new cerebral infarctions after BA stenting, which warrants further studies with a larger sample size. As for smoking, the inverse correlation with new cerebral infarctions in the BA territory needs large-scale prospective randomized controlled trials to verify.

Impact of COVID-19 on Acute Stroke Presentation at a Comprehensive Stroke Center
Conclusions: During the first 2 months of COVID-19, there were fewer overall stroke cases who presented to our hospital, and of these cases, there was delayed presentation in comparison to the same time period in 2019. Recognizing how stroke presentation may be affected by COVID-19 would allow for optimization of established stroke triage algorithms in order to ensure safe and timely delivery of stroke care during a pandemic.
