Access to mechanical thrombectomy and ischemic stroke mortality in Japan: a spatial ecological study
ConclusionAccess to mechanical thrombectomy was estimated, and regional differences were observed. The relationship between accessibility and IS mortality is unknown; however, regardless of accessibility, municipalities with a high proportion of workers in secondary industries and a small proportion with bachelor’s degrees or above are at risk of death from stroke.

Pediatric arterial ischemic stroke in Japan: Moyamoya disease or not
In this study, among 93 responders from physicians in 50 pediatric hospitals, consensus agreement, being available to treat pediatric AIS, was 90.3% in the use of intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and 77.4% in mechanical thrombectomy.

Rare RNF213 variant in adolescent with moyamoya disease

MR vessel wall enhancement in a pediatric focal cerebral arteriopathy
We describe the case of a 7-year-old Japanese girl with right hemiplegia and dysarthria for 3  days. Brain MRI showed acute infarct in the left basal ganglia, and MRA and conventional cerebral angiogram detected vascular stenosis in the left distal internal carotid artery, left M1 and A1 segments.

Sex Differences in Long-Term Functional Decline after Ischemic Stroke: A Longitudinal Observational Study from the Fukuoka Stroke Registry
Conclusion: This longitudinal observational study suggests that female sex was independently associated with an increased risk of functional decline in the chronic phase of stroke, especially in older patients. There was no sex difference in 5-year stroke recurrence, and thus, other factors might be involved in more significant deterioration of functional status in female survivors of ischemic stroke. Further studies are needed to elucidate underlying causes of sex differences in long-term functional decline after stroke.Cerebrovasc Dis
