Concomitant tricuspid valve repair for mild-moderate tricuspid regurgitation patients undergoing mitral valve surgery? A meta-analysis and meta-regression
J Cardiovasc Surg (Torino). 2023 Jul 24. doi: 10.23736/S0021-9509.23.12760-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe development of tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is a common complication of mitral valve disease. Although severe TR is usually operated on at the same time of mitral valve surgery (MVS), controversies remain regarding whether mild to moderate TR patients should be operated. Concomitant tricuspid valve repair with MVS for mild-moderate TR patients. Electronic databases were searched from inception to November 20, 2022 to include any observational or randomized controlled trials (RCT) that compare concomitant tricuspi...

Improvement of early outcomes in type A acute aortic syndrome after an Aorta Code implementation
CONCLUSIONS: An Aorta Code can be successfully implemented by using a standardized protocol within a hospital network. The number of cases increased, time to diagnosis, transfer and operating room were reduced and 30- day mortality significantly decreased.PMID:37488005 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2023.07.010

The Relationship of Astrocytes and Microglia with Different Stages of Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSION: Understanding the details of astrocyte-microglia interaction processes will contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying ischemic stroke, contributing to the identification of new therapeutic interventions.PMID:37464832 | DOI:10.2174/1570159X21666230718104634

Hypoxic postconditioning drives protective microglial responses and ameliorates white matter injury after ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: HPC promotes protective microglial responses and white matter repair after MCAO, which may be related to the proliferation and differentiation of oligodendrocytes.PMID:37435771 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14346

Midterm outcomes of minimally invasive mitral valve surgery in a heterogeneous valve pathology cohort: respect or resect?
CONCLUSIONS: Despite a heterogeneous cohort with mixed valve pathologies, there is a high reconstruction rate, low short- and midterm morbidity, mortality and need for re-intervention with comparable outcomes of the resect and respect technique in a specialized MIV center.PMID:37426140 | PMC:PMC10323544 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-22-1796
