The Impact of Complete Revascularization in Symptomatic Severe Left Ventricular Dysfunction between Coronary Artery Bypass Graft and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with symptomatic (NYHA class ≥ 3) severe LV dysfunction and CAD, CABG brought less HF admission when compared to patients in the PCI group, but this did not differ when compared to the complete revascularization subgroup. Therefore, an extensive revascularization, achieved by CABG or PCI, is associated with a lower HF hospitalization rate during the 3-yearfollow-up period in such populations.PMID:36896424 | PMC:PMC9991473 | DOI:10.1155/2023/9226722

Differences in major limb outcomes by indication for lower extremity endovascular revascularization in patients receiving hemodialysis
This study is to determine whether indication of PAD has a distinct impact on major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) and limb events in patients receiving hemodialysis. The current study included 2321 prospectively enrolled patients from the Tokyo taMA peripheral vascular intervention research ComraDE registry (UMIN-CTR no. UMIN000015100) between September 2014 and December 2016. Out of the enrolled patients, 1644 were not receiving hemodialysis (non-HD patients) and 603 were receiving hemodialysis (HD patients). A composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, and stroke events defined as MA...

Exploring the role of lipoprotein(a) in cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in Chinese population
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Feb 7:123586. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.123586. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA high level of lipoprotein (a) in the plasma has been associated with a variety of cardiovascular diseases and is considered to be an independent predictor of some other diseases. Based on recent studies, the concentration levels of Lp(a) in the Chinese population exhibit a distinctive variation from other populations. In the Chinese population, a high level of Lp(a) indicates a higher incidence of revascularization, platelet aggregation, and thrombogenicity following PCI. Increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovasc...

Pitavastatin Compared with Differential Intervention Trial by Standard Therapy on Cardiovascular Events in Patients with Dyslipidemia on Chronic Hemodialysis (DIALYSIS): A Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusion: Our study has demonstrated that aggressive intervention with pitavastatin is more effective than the standard (dietary) therapy for improving the clinical outcomes in patients with dyslipidemia on chronic hemodialysis.Blood Purif

Initial report of percutaneous left atrial appendage closure in hemodialysis patients with atrial fibrillation and high risk of bleeding in Japan
AbstractIn the countries like Japan where anticoagulation is not recommended in hemodialysis patients, the feasibility of percutaneous left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) in hemodialysis patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) accompanying high risks of thromboembolic stroke and bleeding remains unknown. Peri-procedural and 45-day clinical outcomes following LAAC using WATCHMAN system, which were performed in our institute between Jun 2020 and April 2022 according to the Japanese Circulation Society guidelines, were retrospectively compared between those with and without hemodialysis. 118 patients (median 79...

Wide-ranging clinical spectrum of paradoxical embolism
The purpose of this review is to raise the index of suspicion for paradoxical embolism among generalists. The review is based solely on anecdotal reports compiled from EMBASE, MEDLINE, Googlescholar and Pubmed. Search terms were ‘paradoxical embolism’, ‘pulmonary embolism’ and ‘pulmonary arteriovenous malformations’. What emerged was that right-to-left paradoxical embolism could occur with or without concurrent pulmonary embolism, and also with and without proof of the presence of an ‘embolus-in-transit’. Potential sites of single or multiple systemic involvement included the...
