Acute and subacute neurovascular impact of cryptogenic air emboli
CONCLUSION: This case highlights that cerebral air emboli can cause delayed ischemia that may not be appreciated on initial imaging. As such, affected patients may require intensive neurocritical care management, close neurologic monitoring, and repeat imaging irrespective of initial radiographic findings.PMID:37680929 | PMC:PMC10481802 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_382_2023

Correlation of neck circumference, coronary calcification severity and cardiovascular events in Chinese elderly patients with acute coronary syndromes
CONCLUSIONS: NC is closely associated with MetS and its components, coronary calcification and lesion degree, and MACEs. NC could be used as surrogate of CACS to predict the coronary condition and prognosis of elderly patients with ACS.PMID:37679211 | DOI:10.1016/j.atherosclerosis.2023.117242

ASPECTS evolution after endovascular successful reperfusion in the early and extended time window
CONCLUSION: ASPECTS evolution is a strong predictor of functional and safety outcomes after successful endovascular therapy. Higher number of EVT attempts and incomplete reperfusion are associated with ASPECTS evolution at day 1.PMID:37671452 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231196953

A new predictor of coronary artery disease in acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack patients: pericarotid fat density
ConclusionCTA-derived PFD measurements offer supplementary predictive value for obstructive CAD beyond FRS and stenosis, thereby facilitating improved risk stratification of TIA or stroke patients without a history of CAD history.Clinical relevance statementCTA-derived PFD provides incremental predictive value for obstructive coronary artery disease in acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack patients without CAD history, beyond Framingham risk score and carotid artery stenosis degree, improving risk stratification.Key Points• Pericarotid fat density is associated with obstructive coronary artery disease in acu...

The diagnosis of intracranial artery stenosis in patients with stroke by transcranial Doppler ultrasound: A meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Doppler ultrasound has good consistency with conventional methods for the diagnosis of intracranial artery stenosis in patients with a history of stroke. Different reference standards may affect sensitivity and specificity; when CTA was used as the reference standard, the consistency of the TCD in the diagnosis of intracranial artery stenosis in stroke patients was relatively good.PMID:37661896 | DOI:10.3233/THC-220844
