A comparative study of thoracoscopic left atrial appendage clipping versus stapled resection
CONCLUSIONS: The clipping group demonstrated a higher rate of complete LAA closure compared to the stapled resection group. Close monitoring of patients with residual LAA stumps is essential. Further research with larger cohorts is needed to elucidate impact of residual LAA stump on thromboembolic events.PMID:37734642 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2023.09.010

How to improve the description of superior mesenteric artery occlusions in acute mesenteric ischemia: A new computed tomography anatomic segmentation
Acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) is an intestinal vascular emergency and one of the most severe ischemic syndromes. For stroke or myocardial infarction, arterial segmentations were proposed as early as 1938 and 1975, respectively. These segmentations - used on a daily basis - made it possible to harmonize practices and standardize neurovascular and coronary studies. There is no such standardization in AMI, but the vital and functional prognostic challenge is of the same order. In addition, the lack of a standardized description of superior mesenteric artery (SMA) lesions limits the interpretation and comparability of the studies.

Computed tomography angiography-based radiomics model to identify high-risk carotid plaques
CONCLUSIONS: The combined model of the radiomics features of carotid plaques and PVAT and the traditional CTA features significantly contributes to identifying high-risk carotid plaques compared with traditional CTA model.PMID:37711840 | PMC:PMC10498225 | DOI:10.21037/qims-23-158

Clot-based time attenuation curve as a novel imaging predictor of mechanical thrombectomy functional outcome in acute ischemia stroke
ConclusionsThrombus TAC on CTP were found to be a promising new imaging biomarker to predict the outcomes of MT in AIS.Clinical relevance statementThis study revealed that clot-based time attenuation curve based on admission perfusion CT could reflect the permeability and composition of thrombus and, also, provide valuable information to predict the clinical outcomes of mechanical thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemia stroke.Key Points• Two time-attenuation curves distributions achieved strong correlations (|r|= 0.627, p <  0.001) with histopathological results.• The unimodal time-attenuation curve was ...

Development and validation of a nomogram for the risk prediction of malignant cerebral edema after acute large hemispheric infarction involving the anterior circulation
ConclusionOur nomogram based on LASSO-logistic regression is accurate and useful for the early prediction of MCE after LHI. This model can serve as a precise and practical tool for clinical decision-making in patients with LHI who may require aggressive therapeutic approaches.

Thoracic Aortic Plaque Burden and Prediction of Cardiovascular Events in Patients Undergoing 320-row Multidetector CT Coronary Angiography
CONCLUSIONS: We found that comprehensive non-invasive evaluation of TAPB and CAD has prognostic value in MACE risk stratification for suspected CAD patients undergoing CCTA.PMID:37704429 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64251

Treatment of In-stent Restenosis of the Internal Carotid Artery Using Drug-eluting Balloons
ConclusionThe use of DEB angioplasty is a  safe and effective treatment of ICA ISR lesions, yielding significantly better results compared to other modalities. Randomized multicenter studies are warranted.
