Application of hospital-community-family health education to family caregivers of nasal fed patients under the background of a regional medical association
CONCLUSION: For the main caregivers of NTG nutrition patients, the implementation of a hospital-community-family health education model based on regional medical consortium can improve the level of knowledge, attitude and practice of caregivers' NTG nutrition skills and reduce complications in patients.PMID:36628212 | PMC:PMC9827323

Iatrogenic empyema secondary to the malposition of a nasogastric tube
We describe a patient who has had multiple NG tubes misplaced into the left main bronchus causing pneumothoraces and an NG feeding-related empyema. AbstractBlind NGT insertion can lead to tube misplacement into the respiratory tract. This can lead to multiple pulmonary complications including lung injury, pneumothorax, pneumonia, empyema and diaphragmatic injury. We present the case of an 80  year-old female who required an NGT insertion for severe oropharyngeal dysphagia from an acute stroke. Her admission was complicated by multiple pneumothoraces from repeated insertions, as well as the unusual complication of a recur...

An exploratory descriptive cohort study of 90-day prognosis after acute ischaemic stroke with mechanical thrombectomy
CONCLUSION: Almost half of the surviving patients had a poor prognosis. In our country, this surgery and rehabilitation impose a significant financial burden that needs to be addressed. However, the longer length of hospital stay and higher costs at discharge may be contributing factors to worse outcomes. The outcomes of comprehensive nursing assessment of the patients, including nursing needs, activities of daily living, and neurological function, can predict their outcome.IMPACT STATEMENT: We recommend a comprehensive nursing assessment at discharge that predicts patient outcomes and can be used for subsequent targeted i...

E-101 Rescue stenting for intracranial stenosis in emergent large vessel occlusion patients using the neuroform atlas stent through the gateway balloon: preliminary report
ConclusionOur preliminary experience showed the diminished risk of guidewire perforation as well as potentially decreased operative time and early reperfusion by deploying the Neuroform stent through a compatible gateway balloon microcatheter. This should be investigated further in large multicenter studiesDisclosures M. Memon: None. T. Nisar: None. J. Lee: None. A. Biswas: None. A. Singla: None. P. Khandelwal: None.

Discussion with family prior to insertion of NGT recorded in 46 (18.4%). There were 123 cases (49.2%) of aspiration pneumonia. There were 188 (75.2%) NGT associated complications: 67 patients (26.8%) had failed insertion, 31 required multip le attempts, 129 patients (51.6%) pulled out NGT, 107 patients (42.8%) had NGT placed in wrong positions and require reinsertion, 20 cases in the lung, 5 pneumothorax cases, 97 in the gastro oesophageal junction or hiatus hernias, 1 case of oesophageal ulceration, 37 coiled, kinked or resistance. 78 cases the tips were not seen on chest X-ray (CXR), gastrointestinal bleeding in 9 cases,...
