Expression of Tie2 (angiopoietin receptor) on the monocyte subpopulations from ischemic stroke patients: Histological and flowcytometric studies

Understanding the diagnostic work up of stroke and recognizing rare etiologies like MM is important for stroke prevention. A Randomized Control Trial of Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) Intervention in Acute Ischemic Stroke to Improve Functional Outcome (P1.139)
Conclusions: Endogenous mobilization of bonemarrow hematopoietic stem cells by GCSF administration perhaps leads to better functional outcome. This study provides preliminary evidence of potential safety, feasibility, and tolerability of G-CSF therapy in patients with acute ischaemic stroke. Recurrent Intra-Luminal Aortic Thrombus And Ischemic Stroke In A Patient With Essential Thrombocythemia (P6.262)
CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the importance of recognizing essential thrombocythemia as an entity that can lead to devastating complications, including acute coronary syndrome and either arterial and venous thrombosis. Early recognition and effective cytoreductive therapy are cornerstones to the prevention of recurrent embolism.
