Evaluating Methods for Intersectoral Comparison of Quality of Care. A Routine Data Analysis of Elective Percutaneous Coronary Interventions.
Conclusions: The analysis revealed that the adjusted risk for complications following an elective PCI is similar between the inpatient and the outpatient setting. For mortality the risk differed but this might be explained by residual or unmeasured confounding. The different methods applied in this study revealed mostly similar results. Since our study only covered one aspect of quality of care in the field of PCI and did not consider drug treatment in hospital or in the outpatient setting, further studies are needed which include these aspects. Plasma Metal Concentrations and Incident Coronary Heart Disease in Chinese Adults: The Dongfeng-Tongji Cohort
Conclusions: Our study suggested that incident CHD was positively associated with plasma levels of titanium and arsenic, and inversely associated with selenium. Brief Report: Integrase Strand Transfer Inhibitors Are Associated With Lower Risk of Incident Cardiovascular Disease in People Living With HIV
Conclusion: In this cohort, INSTI-based regimens were associated with a 21% decreased risk of incident cardiovascular disease. These finding require validation in other cohorts and with longer follow-up.

Preparing for Bundled Payments: Impact of Complications Post-Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting on Costs.
CONCLUSIONS: Preoperative characteristics had less of an impact on costs post-CABG than postoperative complications. Postoperative complications vary in their impact on internal costs, with reoperation, stroke and renal failure having the greatest impact. Moderate-Intensity Statins Plus Ezetimibe vs. High-Intensity Statins After Coronary Revascularization: A Cohort Study
ConclusionsPatients undergoing a coronary revascularization procedure who received moderate-intensity statins plus ezetimibe showed similar rates of major adverse cardiovascular events as patients who received high-intensity statins.

Long-term Outcomes of Concomitant Surgical Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSIONS: Concomitant atrial fibrillation ablation during cardiac surgery is safe, does not increase the rate of perioperative complications, and confers the benefit of long-term survival after cardiac surgery in adults. Lipid-lowering treatment modifications among patients with hyperlipidemia and a prior cardiovascular event: a US retrospective cohort study.
CONCLUSIONS: Real-world evidence indicates that few high-risk patients initiate therapy with high-intensity statins. More than 50% of patients underwent a rechallenge or switching. Despite high CVD risk profile, approximately 20% of patients permanently discontinued any LLT. Key limitations: Pharmacy claims do not provide information on whether patients who had a pharmacy fill actually took the medication as prescribed.
