Decrease in post-stroke spasticity and shoulder pain prevalence over the last 15 years
ConclusionsDisabling spasticity and shoulder pain frequency in recent post-stroke patients decreased over the last 15 years, and functional abilities both at admission and discharge improved. Confirmation of these results in a multicentric study may be important evidence of an improvement in stroke healthcare both in stroke and physical and rehabilitation medicine units in the last 10 years in France and could affect future estimations of the need for rehabilitation care after stroke.

CONCLUSIONS: These findings highlight the ongoing challenges with achieving risk factor control after stroke and the potential to utilise health information technology to engage stroke survivors in self-management of their risk factors. Walking activity in community-dwelling stroke survivors within 1 month after discharge from a rehabilitation setting.
CONCLUSION: Fewer number of bouts is a characteristic pattern of walking activity in stroke survivors. In particular, a low number of medium-distance bouts in stroke survivors results in a low number of daily steps when compared with healthy adults. What are the perceptions and experiences of falls amongst people with stroke who live in the community?
CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the perceived negative consequences of falls amongst people with stroke, and the potential contribution of falls to the reduced levels of physical activity often seen following a stroke. Our findings emphasise the need to address falls and balance related self-efficacy alongside strategies to promote safe mobility. The trouble with footwear following stroke: a qualitative study of the views and experience of people with stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Foot problems, as well as gait and balance impairment, have implications for footwear priorities following stroke, but people felt unsupported in making healthy footwear choices. Developing interventions to address sexuality after stroke: findings from a four-panel modified Delphi study.

Validity of an enhanced EQ-5D-5L measure with an added cognitive dimension in patients with stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: The EQ-5D-5L+C, which includes a cognitive domain that is highly significant for stroke patients, showed increased content validity and good discriminative ability, without losing internal consistency.

The role of rehabilitation psychology in stroke care described through case examples.
CONCLUSION: Given the abrupt and significant life-changing nature of stroke, it is often necessary to manage a diverse array of psychological issues that often cannot be simply managed via psychotropic medications. Moreover, an understanding of the patients' emotional adjustment and issues can help them maximize their rehabilitation, recovery, and community integration. For the cases discussed, psychology consultations were central in helping optimize their rehabilitation and functional outcomes.

Factors influencing the amount of therapy received during inpatient stroke care: an analysis of data from the UK Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme.
CONCLUSION: The amount of stroke therapy is associated with unmodifiable patient-related characteristics and modifiable organizational factors in that more therapy was associated with higher therapy and nurse staffing levels, specialist stroke rehabilitation services, timely therapy assessments, and the presence of weekend and early discharge services.

The influence of psychological factors and mood on the course of participation up to four years after stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Participation improves in the first 12 months after stroke and stabilizes afterwards. Mood problems and less adaptive psychological factors negatively influence the course of participation over time up to four years after stroke. Implications for rehabilitation Follow-up assessments after stroke should not only focus on cognitive and motor impairment, but also encompass screening on mood problems and adaptive psychological factors.
