Validity of an enhanced EQ-5D-5L measure with an added cognitive dimension in patients with stroke.

CONCLUSIONS: The EQ-5D-5L+C, which includes a cognitive domain that is highly significant for stroke patients, showed increased content validity and good discriminative ability, without losing internal consistency. PMID: 32070131 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions: Patients with HALs after ET are more likely to have perioperative IH. The highest CT value in the HALs area might be used to predict IH.

Introduction: Recent trials have demonstrated the superior efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy over other medical treatments for acute ischemic stroke; however, not every large vessel occlusion (LVO) can be recanalized using a single thrombectomy device. Rescue devices were proved to increase the reperfusion rate, but the efficacy is unclear. Objective: In this retrospective study, we evaluated the efficacy of rescue therapy in different locations of LVO.Methods: We analyzed the outcomes of mechanical thrombectomy from a prospective registry of consecutive 82 patients in Taipei Medical University Hospital. The reperfusion r...

This study was designed to explore the safety, feasibility, and preliminary efficacy of intravenous administration of GTN after AIS.Methods: A prospective randomized controlled trial is proposed with AIS patients. Participants will be randomly allocated to GTN group and control group with a 1:1 ratio (n = 40). Both groups will be treated with standard therapies according to the current stroke guidelines. Participants allocated to the GTN group will receive intravenous administration of GTN (5 mg GTN in 50 ml saline at a rate of 0.4 mg/h that is continued for 12.5 h/day for 2 days) within 24 h of symptom onset. Participants...

In this study, we sought to validate its earlier predictive accuracy within 24 h for first-ever AIS. Moreover, as HGF interacts with interleukins, their associations may lead to novel immunomodulatory therapeutic strategies. Patients with first-ever AIS (n = 202) within 24 h were recruited. Plasma HGF and related interleukin concentrations were measured by multiplex immunoassays. The primary and secondary outcomes were major disability (modified Rankin scale score ≥3) at 3 months after AIS and death, respectively. Elastic net regression was applied to screen variables associated with stroke outcome; binary multivariable...

Conclusion: The risk assessment model of ischemic stroke combined with Fazekas grade of WML and CRAE is superior to the traditional risk factor and the single-index model. This model is helpful for risk stratification of high-risk stroke patients.

Ischemic stroke, which results in loss of neurological function, initiates a complex cascade of pathological events in the brain, largely driven by excitotoxic Ca2+ influx in neurons. This leads to cortical spreading depolarization, which induces expression of genes involved in both neuronal death and survival; yet, the functions of these...
