Discussion Congenital central hypoventilation syndrome (CCHS) is an autosomal dominant with variable inheritance genetic disease caused by mutation in the Paired Like Homeobox B2 (PHOX2B) gene on chromosome 4. There are two other genes which may also cause CCHS. CCHS affects the chemoreceptor afferent ventilation pathways and is a neural crest migration problem of the autonomic nervous system. The Relationship Between Physician and Center Case Volume on Outcomes of TransCarotid Artery Revascularization
It has been suggested that the annual hospital volume of cases may affect the number of adverse events following carotid endarterectomy (CEA). Transfemoral carotid stenting (TFCAS) was found to have an extended learning curve with an estimated minimum of 25 cases for the success of the stenting procedure. One prior study indicated that transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) is being performed with excellent stroke and mortality rates even in the early stages of the surgeons ’ learning curve.

Stroke is the second most common cause of death worldwide and the leading cause of chronic functional limitations.1 Without appropriate and timely care between the stroke symptom appearance and the treatment in acute stroke incidents, the ischemic brain ages 3.6 years for every hour of blood deprivation.2 Yet patients repeatedly arrive late to the hospital.3,4 The lack of public awareness about stroke symptoms has been reported in the literature as one of the main factors, causing this belated arrival to the hospital and hence the belated medical treatment.
