Stroke in Patients With Aortic Stenosis: The Simvastatin and Ezetimibe in Aortic Stenosis Study Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— In patients with aortic stenosis not prescribed oral anticoagulation, atrial fibrillation, AVR with concomitant coronary artery bypass grafting, and CHA2DS2-VASc score were the major predictors of stroke. Recurrent Acute Ischemic Stroke after Infective Endocarditis Caused by Streptococcus Constellatus: First Case Report and Analysis of the Case Series
Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is highly prevalent in patients with infective endocarditis (IE) and associated with high rates of death and disability. IE presenting as an acute ischemic stroke, especially recurrent concurrence of acute anterior and posterior circulation infarct, has rarely been reported. Herein, we report a case study of a 60-year-old man with a history of aortic valve replacement and was under warfarin, presented with recurrent acute ischemic stroke which was found to have no vegetation secondary to infective endocarditis caused by Streptococcus constellatus as the embolic source.

Knowledge Regarding Oral Anticoagulation Therapy among Patients with Stroke and Those at High Risk of Thromboembolic Events
Apart from atrial fibrillation, indications for oral anticoagulation common in our clinical practice include rheumatic heart disease and mechanical heart valve replacement. Evaluation of current patient knowledge regarding oral anticoagulation therapy (OAT) is the first step in improving the quality of anticoagulation therapy and patient care. The aim of the present study was to assess the knowledge regarding OAT among patients with stroke and those at high risk of thromboembolic events in a tertiary care hospital in India.

ConclusionThis study used a large prospective cohort of English residents to estimate the risk chocolate poses to cardiovascular death and disease. In addition, they systematically combed the research literature for other similar studies, combining their results with that of other researchers. Neurological Events Following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement and Their Predictors: A Report From the CoreValve Trials Structural Heart Disease
Conclusions— Predictors of early stroke after TAVR included clinical and procedural factors; predictors of later stroke were limited to patient but not anatomic characteristics. These findings indicate that further refinement of imaging to identify anatomic factors predisposing to embolization may help improve stroke prediction in patients undergoing TAVR. Stroke after Aortic Valve Surgery: Results from a Prospective Cohort.
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical stroke after AVR was more common than previously reported, more than double for this same cohort in the STS database, and silent cerebral infarctions were detected in over half of patients undergoing AVR. Influence of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Strategy and Valve Design on Stroke After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review of Literature
ConclusionsOur findings suggest that the risk of 30-day stroke after TAVR is similar between the approaches and valve types. There has been a decline in stroke risk after TAVR with improvements in valve technology, patient selection, and operator experience.
