Chinese herbal medicine Dengzhan Xixin injection for acute ischemic stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.
CONCLUSION: Low quality evidence implied that DZXX injection appeared to improve neurological function in patients with acute ischemic stroke. However, this potential benefit should be further studied in large, rigorous trials. PMID: 28917378 [PubMed - in process]

Network pharmacology study of traditional Chinese medicines for stroke treatment and effective constituents screening
ConclusionsThis paper details a novel strategy for exploring the characteristics and mechanisms of herbal medicines from a systematic standpoint in an attempt to identify those affecting specific target pathways related to stroke. Using this methodology on our natural products library, we found a number of lead candidates with multi-target activity.Graphical abstract

Oridonin prevents oxidative stress-induced endothelial injury via promoting Nrf-2 pathway in ischaemic stroke
J Cell Mol Med. 2021 Sep 12. doi: 10.1111/jcmm.16923. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOridonin, a natural diterpenoid compound extracted from a Chinese herb, has been proved to exert anti-oxidative stress effects in various disease models. The aim of the present study was to investigate the protective effects of oridonin on oxidative stress-induced endothelial injury in ischaemic stroke. We found oridonin repaired blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity presented with upregulation of tight junction proteins (TJ proteins) expression, inhibited the infiltration of periphery inflammatory cells and neuroinflammation and thereby redu...

Mechanism of Action of Dengzhan Shengmai in Regulating Stroke from an Inflammatory Perspective: A Preliminary Analysis of Network Pharmacology
In this study, a systems biology approach was applicable to elucidate the underlying mechanism of action of DZSM on stroke. All the compounds were obtained from databases, and pendant-related targets were obtained from various data platforms, including the TCM Systematic Pharmacology (TCMSP) database, TCM Integrated Database (TCMIP), High Throughput Experimental Reference Database (HERB), Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD), SwissTargetPredicition, and SymMap, The Human Gene Database (GENECARD) and Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD) were used for stroke disease target data, followed by network pharmacology ana...
