Factors influencing trunk control recovery after intensive rehabilitation in post-stroke patients: a multicentre prospective study
CONCLUSIONS: Age, admission neurological impairment (NIHSS total score), trunk control at the admission (TCT total score), and presence of depression independently influenced the TCT at discharge. These factors should be carefully assessed at the baseline to plan a tailoring rehabilitation treatment achieving the best trunk control performance at discharge.PMID:34994302 | DOI:10.1080/10749357.2021.2016099

Psychometric properties of the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression (CES-D) scale in stroke survivors
CONCLUSION: The four-factor structure of the CES-D was confirmed and its psychometric properties were validated, supporting the use of four subscales to characterize depressive symptomatology in adults with stroke. Supplementary assessments are needed for evaluating and comparing somatic symptoms over time. A refinement of the CES-D was recommended to better differentiate stroke survivors with subtle depressive symptoms.PMID:35037591 | DOI:10.1080/10749357.2022.2026280

Depression in Stroke Survivors: Ten-Year Follow-Up. Determinants of the Natural Course of Depressive Symptoms in Stroke Survivors in the Netherlands: The SMART-Medea Study
Stroke is one of the leading causes of mortality and a major cause of disability, due to impairments in functioning, limitations in activities, and restrictions in societal participation.20 Although these consequences vary widely between stroke survivors, the most common consequences are physical impairments, communication disorders, cognitive and emotional problems, and mood disturbances.13,50 Every year 15 million people suffer from stroke,30 in the Netherlands, 40.000 patients have a stroke each year28 Most stroke patients survive the initial illness and the greatest health effect is usually caused by the long-term consequences.

Multidimensional analysis of sedentary behaviour and participation in Spanish stroke survivors (Part&Sed-Stroke): a protocol for a longitudinal multicentre study
Introduction Stroke survivors usually experience long-lasting functional, emotional and social consequences that might contribute to sedentary behaviour and participation restrictions, which are important targets to address during rehabilitation. However, the trajectory and inter-relationship between these factors are unknown. Methods and analysis Part&Sed is a research project based on an observational study design with 6 and 12 months of follow-ups in stroke survivors. In addition, a qualitative analysis of the impact of the stroke on the stroke survivor, validation of the Satisfaction with Daily Occupation-Occupati...

Cerebral Microbleeds as a Predictor of 1-Year Outcome of Poststroke Depression Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The results suggest that lobar CMBs may influence the outcome of PSD. The importance of CMBs in the clinical course of depression in stroke survivors warrants further investigation.

Basal ganglia stroke and apathy: a clinico-radiological study (P7.136)
CONCLUSIONS: Apathy is more prevalent and more severe in patients with bilateral basal ganglia stroke suggesting that damage to bilateral circuits play a role in clinical apathy. The posterior limb of the internal capsule seems to be involved in pathological apathy process. Relation of apathy with depression will be discussed.Disclosure: Dr. THOMAS has nothing to disclose. Problem-Solving Therapy During Outpatient Stroke Rehabilitation Improves Coping and Health-Related Quality of Life: Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— PST seems to improve task-oriented coping but not disease-specific psychosocial HRQoL after stroke >6-month follow-up. Furthermore, we found indications that PST may improve generic HRQoL recovery and avoidant coping. Clinical Trial Registration— URL: http://www.trialregister.nl/trialreg/admin/rctview.asp?TC=2509. A Prediction Model of Rehabilitation Motivation in Middle-Aged Survivors of Stroke in Rehabilitation Facilities in Korea
Background To improve the health outcomes of survivors of stroke, it is critical that they are highly motivated to engage in rehabilitation activities. Despite the increasing prevalence of strokes among middle-aged adults, there is limited knowledge regarding factors that may affect survivors' motivation to engage in rehabilitation. Objective The aim of this study was to examine the relationship among factors that predict the rehabilitation motivation of middle-aged survivors after a stroke through structural equation modeling. Methods A total of 200 middle-aged (40–64 years) survivors of stroke from 9 rehabilita...
