Comparison of Stroke Risk Stratification Scores for Atrial Fibrillation
Several stroke risk stratification scores have been developed to guide clinical decision making in patients with non valvular atrial fibrillation (AF). Use of an Automated Suture Fastening Device in Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Replacement
ConclusionsIn mAVR, the CK device was associated with reduced aortic cross-clamp time while providing equivalent clinical outcomes. Larger studies are needed to confirm the efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the CK device in minimally invasive aortic valve surgery.

Evaluation of clinical outcomes among nonvalvular atrial fibrillation patients treated with rivaroxaban or warfarin, stratified by renal  function

CONCLUSION: Rivaroxaban-treated NVAF patients with diagnosed renal dysfunction had a significantly lower stroke rate compared to warfarin-treated patients. First Diagnosis of Atrial Fibrillation at the Time of Stroke
Conclusions: In this contemporary cohort, nearly one in 5 AF-related strokes occurred without a pre-stroke AF diagnosis. AF was readily diagnosed using standard rhythm monitoring. The vast majority of patients with newly diagnosed AF were at high enough pre-stroke risk to merit anticoagulation. In conclusion, our findings support screening for AF before stroke. Quality of care in patients with atrial fibrillation in primary care: a cross-sectional study comparing clinical and claims data.
Conclusion: Our results suggest that a high rate of AF patients receive a drug therapy according to guidelines. There is a large difference between crude and adjusted OAC treatment rates. This is due to individual contraindications and comorbidities which cannot be documented using ICD coding. Therefore, quality indicators based on crude EMR data or claims data would lead to a systematic underestimation of the quality of care.
