Long-Term Abnormalities of Lipid Profile After a Single Episode of Sepsis
Conclusions: Our study suggests that persistent derangements of lipid profile components for up to two years after sepsis may be associated with altered risk of atherosclerosis-related events among sepsis survivors.PMID:34869619 | PMC:PMC8634493 | DOI:10.3389/fcvm.2021.674248

Antihypertensive treatment and risk factors for syncope in asymptomatic aortic stenosis patients with hypertension
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with moderate or severe AS, concomitant hypertension, and antihypertensive treatment didn't increase the occurrence of syncope, whereas higher ZVA was independently associated with greater risk of syncope.PMID:34872422 | DOI:10.1080/10641963.2021.1883047

Using the Symptom Patient Similarity Network to Explore the Difference between the Chinese and Western Medicine Pathways of Ischemic Stroke and its Comorbidities
CONCLUSION: The research of disease classification based on community detection of symptom-shared patient networks is practical; the common molecular pathway of symptoms and herbs reflects the rationality of TCM herbs on symptoms and the wide range of therapeutic targets.PMID:34899950 | PMC:PMC8654542 | DOI:10.1155/2021/4961738

Comparing hospital-resource utilization by an enhanced pneumonia surveillance programme for COVID-19 with pre-pandemic pneumonia admissions - a Singaporean hospital's experience
Conclusions. Our study successfully evaluated our hospital-resource utilization demanded by our EPS programme in relation to an appropriate comparison group. This helps to inform strategic use of hospital resources to meet the needs of both COVID-19 related services and essential 'peace-time' healthcare services concurrently.PMID:34898420 | DOI:10.1099/jmm.0.001452

E-131 Transfemoral versus transradial approach for cerebral angiography: A patient preference survey
ConclusionsAt our institution, most patients preferred transradial over transfemoral approach. Most common reasons included pain, recovery time and bruising. Although the effectiveness and safety of transradial approach for non-diagnostic neurointervention remains uncertain and continues to technically evolve, it may be the best option for diagnostic angiograms considering the patients’ preference.Disclosures J. Analysis of HLA Variants and Graves ’ Disease and Its Comorbidities Using a High Resolution Imputation System to Examine Electronic Medical Health Records
Hyperthyroidism is a prevalent endocrine disorder, and genetics play a major role in the development of thyroid-associated diseases. In particular, the inheritance of HLA has been demonstrated to induce the highest susceptibility to Graves’ disease (GD). However, thus far, no studies have reported the contribution of HLA to the development of GD and the complications that follow. Thus, in the present study, to the best of our knowledge, for the first time, a powerful imputation method, HIBAG, was used to predict the HLA subtypes among populations with available genome-wide SNP array data from the China Medical University...
