Noncardiogenic Stroke Patients with Metabolic Syndrome Have More Border-zone Infarction and Intracranial Artery Stenosis
Little is known about the clinical character of stroke patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS) in Chinese population. In this hospital-based cross-sectional study, we elucidated the prevalence of MetS among patients with acute noncardiogenic cerebral infarction from south China, the topographic infarction patterns in magnetic resonance imaging, and vascular angiography findings of stroke patients with MetS.

Use of Total Cerebral Blood Flow as an Imaging Biomarker of Known Cardiovascular Risks Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Reduced cerebral blood flow seems to be a correlate of vascular disease risk factors associated with cardiometabolic dysregulation. Cerebral blood flow may provide a valid imaging biomarker for cardiovascular risk.

Unilateral Symptomatic Intracranial Arterial Stenosis and Myopathy in an Adolescent with Graves Disease: A Case Report of an High-resolution Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study
Vascular and muscular involvements in Graves disease (GD) are rare. Here, we report a case of a 17-year-old patient with unilateral symptomatic middle cerebral artery stenosis concurrent with GD and myopathy. He presented with a 1-day history of acute severe right-sided hemiparesis and aphasia and a 3-week history of high metabolic syndrome. The pathogenesis of the stenosis is most likely vasculitis rather than atherosclerosis, based on contrast-enhanced high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging showing concentric wall enhancement.

The Metabolic Syndrome Predicts Longitudinal Changes in Clock Drawing Test Performance in Older Nondemented Hypertensive Individuals.

Carotid Plaque Lipid Content and Fibrous Cap Status Predict Systemic CV Outcomes: The MRI Substudy in AIM-HIGH
Conclusions Among patients with clinically established atherosclerotic disease, carotid plaque lipid content and fibrous cap status were strongly associated with systemic cardiovascular outcomes. Markers of carotid plaque vulnerability may serve as novel surrogate markers for systemic atherothrombotic risk.

Relationship Between Asymptomatic Intracranial Stenosis and Extracranial Arteriosclerotic Findings in Workplace Health Checkups: A Pilot Study
Background: Intracranial arteriosclerotic disease (ICAD) is common in Asians and has been presumed to be largely associated with metabolic syndrome (MetS), but the risks for asymptomatic ICAD detectable in examinations of the brain, among other tests, are not well known. The present study is aimed at identifying the risks for asymptomatic ICAD using data on risk factors obtained in health checkups, including data from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), chest computed tomography (CT), and neck echography.

Sex-specific association of metabolic risk factors with brain ischemic lesions by severity and location
ConclusionsMetabolic syndrome was associated with brain ischemic lesions in men but not in women. Higher body mass index was related to ischemic lesions located in lobar in men and in deep brain/infratentorial areas in women. Its mechanisms remain to be further investigated.
