Diabetes and cardiovascular risk according to gender: an overview of epidemiological data from the early Framingham reports to the cardiovascular outcomes trials
Ann Endocrinol (Paris). 2022 Sep 29:S0003-4266(22)00839-3. doi: 10.1016/j.ando.2022.09.023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMale gender is a major cardiovascular risk factor in the general population, with men showing higher age-adjusted prevalence of cardiovascular disease than women. Diabetes, another major cardiovascular risk factor, affects cardiovascular risk differentially between men and women. Data from prospective observational studies showed that women with diabetes had greater relative risk of cardiovascular events than men with diabetes, leading to a smaller difference between diabetic men and women than between ...

Cardiovascular outcomes and all-cause mortality in primary aldosteronism after adrenalectomy or mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist treatment: a meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, adrenalectomy could be preferred over MRA for patients with PA in reducing the risk of all-cause mortality and/or MACE and should be considered as the treatment of choice. That patients with PA could get less benefit from adrenalectomy as they age warrants further investigation.PMID:36315466 | DOI:10.1530/EJE-22-0375

New insights into the comorbid conditions of Turner syndrome: results from a long-term monocentric cohort study
ConclusionsThis cohort study confirms the need for continuous, structured and multidisciplinary lifelong monitoring of TS, thus ensuring the early diagnosis of important comorbid conditions, including cancer, and their appropriate and timely treatment. In addition, these data highlight the need for the increased surveillance of specific types of cancer in TS, including thyroid carcinoma.

Screening for obstructive sleep apnoea in high-risk patients with mood disorders
CONCLUSIONS: This pilot study showed an increased risk of OSA in patients with mood disorders. Psychiatric patients with identified risk factors should be routinely screened for obstructive sleep apnoea and referred to proper treatment.PMID:36528884

Association of urinary nitrate with diabetes complication and disease-specific mortality among adults with hyperglycemia
CONCLUSIONS: Higher urinary nitrate is associated with lower risk of congestive heart failure and diabetic nephropathy, and lower risk of all-cause, CVD, and diabetes mortalities. These findings indicated that inorganic nitrate supplementation can be considered as a supplementary treatment for people with hyperglycemia.PMID:36576885 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgac741
