Use of Warfarin at Discharge Among Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients With Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation in China Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The rate of warfarin use remains low among patients with ischemic stroke and known nonvalvular atrial fibrillation in China. Hospital size and academic status together with patient age, heart failure, heavy alcohol drinking, international normalized ratio in hospital, and stroke severity on admission were each independently associated with the use of warfarin at discharge. There is much room for improvement for secondary stroke prevention in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation patients in China.

Serum Hepatocyte Growth Factor Is Probably Associated With 3-Month Prognosis of Acute Ischemic Stroke Clinical Sciences
Background and Purpose—Serum hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is positively associated with poor prognosis of heart failure and myocardial infarction, and it can also predict the risk of ischemic stroke in population. The goal of this study was to investigate the association between serum HGF and prognosis of ischemic stroke. Methods—A total of 3027 acute ischemic stroke patients were included in this post hoc analysis of the CATIS (China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke). The primary outcome was composite outcome of death or major disability (modified Rankin Scale score ≥3) within 3 months.Results—Afte...

Protocol for Home-Based Solution for Remote Atrial Fibrillation Screening to Prevent Recurrence Stroke (HUA-TUO AF Trial): a randomised controlled trial
The objective of the study was to explore the use of long-term home-based ECG monitoring for AF detection and stroke prevention in patients with a history of stroke. Methods and analysis This prospective, randomised, open-label trial with blinded endpoint adjudication aimed to evaluate the efficacy of long-term home-based ECG monitoring for AF detection and stroke prevention in a 24-month period. Patients aged >18 years with a history of ischaemic stroke will be stratified according to the time from the index ischaemic stroke: <1, 1–3 and >3 years and then randomised in 1:1 to (1) home-based AF screening an...

Cerebrolysin for acute ischaemic stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Moderate-quality evidence indicates that Cerebrolysin probably has little or no beneficial effect on preventing all-cause death in acute ischaemic stroke, or on the total number of people with serious adverse events. Moderate-quality evidence also indicates a potential increase in non-fatal serious adverse events with Cerebrolysin use. PMID: 32662068 [PubMed - in process]

Essen score in the prediction of cerebrovascular events compared with cardiovascular events after ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack: a nationwide registry analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The Essen score is potentially more suitable for risk stratification of cardiovascular events than cerebrovascular events. Moreover, future predictive tools should take brain imaging findings and cause of stroke into consideration.PMID:35572218 | PMC:PMC9068593 | DOI:10.11909/j.issn.1671-5411.2022.04.002

Tai Chi for anxiety and depression symptoms in cancer, stroke, heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Tai Chi has a positive effect on anxiety and depression, especially for patients with cancer, stroke, and HF. However, given the weak evidence, this approach is not a substitute for psychiatric treatment.PMID:34749040 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctcp.2021.101510

Predictors, timing, causes and cost of 30-day readmission after acute ischemic stroke: insights from a Chinese cohort 2015-2018
CONCLUSIONS: The findings highlight the importance of the readmission of ischemic stroke and corresponding policies and interventions, and our work could provide a potential manage path for the reduction of readmission rate.PMID:35876140 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2105489

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 9144: Quality of Care in Public County Hospitals: A Cross-Sectional Study for Stroke, Pneumonia, and Heart Failure Care in Eastern China
un Hui Li There are very few studies about the quality of care (QoC) in Chinese county hospitals. Using 7, 6, and 6 standard operations from clinical pathways as the process indicators, we evaluated the quality of stroke, pneumonia, and heart failure care, respectively. We also conducted chi-squared tests to detect differences of quality between selected counties or hospitals. We extracted relevant information from medical records of 421 stroke cases, 329 pneumonia cases, and 341 heart failure cases, which were sampled from 6 county hospitals in 3 counties of eastern China. The average proportion of recommended care ...
