Conclusions: CVD risk in postmenopausal women appears to be sensitive to a change to a low-fat dietary pattern and, among healthy women, includes both CHD benefit and stroke risk. This trial was registered at clinicaltrials.gov as NCT00000611.

AbstractStudies of the associations of sodium and potassium intakes with cardiovascular disease incidence often rely on self-reported dietary data. In the present study, self-reported intakes from postmenopausal women at 40 participating US clinical centers are calibrated using 24-hour urinary excretion measures in cohorts from the Women's Health Initiative, with follow-up from 1993 to 2010. Low-gluten diet linked to heart attack risk
Conclusion This study has found that while overall gluten consumption in people without coeliac disease may not be related to heart disease risk, avoiding whole grains (wheat, barley and rye) in order to avoid gluten may be associated with increased heart disease risk. This study has several strengths, including its large size, the fact that data was collected prospectively and diet assessed at several time-points, the long period of follow up, and that it took into account a wide range of potential confounders. Conclusion This study showed 3% fewer people with CHD, at high risk of major cardiovascular events, who reported eating the healthiest Mediterranean-style diets, had either died, or had a non-fatal heart attack or stroke over a three-year period than those with less healthy diets. Dietary {alpha}-Linolenic Acid, Marine {omega}-3 Fatty Acids, and Mortality in a Population With High Fish Consumption: Findings From the PREvencion con DIeta MEDiterranea (PREDIMED) Study Epidemiology
Conclusions In participants without prior cardiovascular disease and high fish consumption, dietary ALA, supplied mainly by walnuts and olive oil, relates inversely to all-cause mortality, whereas protection from cardiac mortality is limited to fish-derived long-chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Dietary patterns and risk of cardiovascular deaths among middle-aged Japanese: JACC Study
Conclusion: We found that ‘vegetable’ and ‘dairy product’ patterns were associated with lower morality from cardiovascular disease, while the ‘animal food’ pattern was not associated with mortality from cardiovascular disease among Japanese.
