Comparison Between Fimasartan Versus Other Angiotensin Receptor Blockers in Patients With Heart Failure After Acute Myocardial Infarction
CONCLUSION: In this nationwide cohort, fimasartan, compared with other ARBs, had comparable treatment effects for a composite of all-cause death, recurrent MI, hospitalization for heart failure, and stroke in patients with heart failure after MI.PMID:37365730 | PMC:PMC10293657 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2023.38.e202

Contemporary Treatment and Outcome of Patients with Ischaemic Lower Limb Amputation: A Focus on Sex Differences
CONCLUSION: Patients undergoing ischaemic LLA still have a poor prognosis marked by high rates of recurrent cardiovascular and limb events resulting in > 50% mortality within two years. The continuous lack of guideline recommended therapies, particularly in women, may be associated with the persisting poor outcome, necessitating urgent further investigation.PMID:37355161 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.06.018

Serum folate and risk of disabling dementia: a community-based nested case-control study
CONCLUSION: In this nested case-control study with a long follow-up, low serum folate levels were associated with an increased risk of disabling dementia among Japanese individuals.PMID:37314940 | DOI:10.1080/1028415X.2023.2218533

Long-term effectiveness and safety of cilostazol versus clopidogrel in secondary prevention of noncardioembolic ischemic stroke
ConclusionsThis real-world study suggests that cilostazol is effective and safe for noncardioembolic ischemic stroke and may be associated with better effectiveness in hypertensive patients compared to clopidogrel.

Incidence of cardiometabolic outcomes among people living with HIV-1 initiated on integrase strand transfer inhibitor versus non-integrase strand transfer inhibitor antiretroviral therapies: a retrospective analysis of insurance claims in the United States
CONCLUSIONS: Over a short average follow-up period of <2 years, INSTI use among treatment-naïve PLWH was associated with an increased risk of several cardiometabolic outcomes, such as CHF, myocardial infarction and lipid disorders, compared to non-INSTI use. Further research accounting for additional potential confounders and with longer follow-up is warranted to more accurately and precisely quantify the impact of INSTI-containing ART on long-term cardiometabolic outcomes.PMID:37306118 | PMC:PMC10258864 | DOI:10.1002/jia2.26123

A Real-World Evaluation of Primary Medication Nonadherence in Patients with Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation Prescribed Oral Anticoagulants in the United States
ConclusionsMore than one-quarter of patients experienced PMN within 30 days of their initial prescription order. This rate decreased over a longer period, suggesting a delay in fills. Understanding the factors associated with PMN is warranted to develop effective interventions for improving OAC treatment rates in NVAF.

Trends in the Quality of Primary Care and Acute Care in Korea From 2008 to 2020: A Cross-sectional Study
CONCLUSIONS: The avoidable hospitalization rates and case-fatality rates decreased overall during the past decade, but they were relatively high compared with other countries. Strengthening primary care is an essential requirement to improve patient health outcomes in the rapidly aging Korean population.PMID:37287202 | PMC:PMC10248101 | DOI:10.3961/jpmph.23.015
