Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides alleviate depressive-like behaviors in post-stroke rats via suppressing NLRP3 inflammasome to inhibit hippocampal inflammation
CONCLUSION: Overall, our study reveals the antidepressive effect of MOOs on PSD rats through modulation of microglial NLRP3 inflammasome. We also provide a novel insight into hippocampal inflammation response in PSD pathology and put forward NLRP3 inflammasome as a potential therapeutic target for PSD.PMID:34559953 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13732

Cytosolic p53 Inhibits Parkin-Mediated Mitophagy and Promotes Acute Liver Injury Induced by Heat Stroke
Heat stroke (HS) is a severe condition characterized by increased morbidity and high mortality. Acute liver injury (ALI) is a well-documented complication of HS. The tumor suppressor p53 plays an important role in regulation of mitochondrial integrity and mitophagy in several forms of ALI. However, the role of p53-regulated mitophagy in HS-ALI remains unclear. In our study, we discovered the dynamic changes of mitophagy in hepatocytes and demonstrated the protective effects of mitophagy activation on HS-ALI. Pretreatment with 3-MA or Mdivi-1 significantly exacerbated ALI by inhibiting mitophagy in HS-ALI mice. Consistent w...

CircFOXP1 alleviates brain injury after acute ischemic stroke by regulating STAT3/apoptotic signaling
Transl Res. 2023 Feb 12:S1931-5244(23)00022-1. doi: 10.1016/j.trsl.2023.01.007. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAccording to previous studies, circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in multiple pathological processes of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, the relationship between circFOXP1 and IS has not yet been reported. Here, we found that circFOXP1 expression was significantly decreased in the peripheral blood of AIS patients compared to controls and was associated with the severity and prognosis of AIS. Functionally, knockdown and overexpression of circFOXP1 promoted and inhibited apoptotic signaling, respectively, fol...
