Research progress on Mincle as a multifunctional receptor
This article will review the various functions of Mincle, such as mediating sterile inflammation of tissues to accelerate disease progression, initiating immune responses to fight infection and promoting tumor progression.PMID:36436471 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2022.109467

Genotype and Phenotype of Adenosine Deaminase 2 Deficiency: a Report from Saudi Arabia
AbstractAdenosine deaminase 2 deficiency (DADA2), a rare and potentially fatal systemic autoinflammatory disease, is characterized by low or lack of ADA2 activity due toADA2 mutations. DADA2 symptoms are variable and include vasculitis, immunodeficiency, and cytopenia. Minimal data are available from Saudi Arabia. This retrospective study conducted at seven major tertiary medical centers examined the phenotypic and genotypic variabilities, clinical and diagnostic findings, and treatment outcomes among 20 Saudi patients with DADA2 from 14 families. The median age of the study cohort was 9.5  years (4–26 years). The clin...

The effect of gender and genetic polymorphisms on matrix metalloprotease (MMP) and tissue inhibitor (TIMP) plasma levels in different infectious and non‐infectious conditions
In conclusion, male gender and MMP‐3(‐1612 5A/6A) 6A allele carriage increased MMP‐3 plasma levels significantly, especially in patients with severe bacterial sepsis. This confounding gender effect needs to be addressed when evaluating MMP‐3 plasma levels in any infectious or non‐infectious condition.

Platelet-Secreted MicroRNA-223 Promotes Endothelial Cell Apoptosis Induced by Advanced Glycation End Products via Targeting the Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 Receptor.
In conclusion, our study presents the first evidence, to our knowledge, that platelet-released miR-223 promotes advanced glycation end product-induced vascular endothelial cell apoptosis via targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor. PMID: 24307738 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
