Prognosis of dolichoectasia in non-cardioembolic transient ischemic attack and minor stroke.

Effects of different frequencies of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in stroke patients with non-fluent aphasia: a randomized, sham-controlled study.
CONCLUSIONS: LF-rTMS and HF-rTMS are both beneficial to the recovery of linguistic function in patients with post-stroke non-fluent aphasia. LF-rTMS produced immediate benefits that persisted long-term, while HF-rTMS only produced long-term benefits. Risk factor profile in patients with stroke at a young age.
Conclusions Angiopathy is the most common risk factor for stroke at a young age. More than half of the patients with stroke at a young age have at least two independent risk factors for stroke. In the first two decades of life, the most frequent risk factors for stroke are heart diseases; arterial diseases play a dominant role in the consecutive three decades. Omega-3 fatty acid supplement reduces activation of NADPH oxidase in intracranial atherosclerosis stenosis.
Conclusions Long-term O3FA dietary supplementation prevents the development of intracranial atherosclerosis. This O3FA effect appears to be mediated by its attenuation of NOX subunit expression and NOX activity, therefore reducing ROS production. Association of hemoglobin glycation index with outcomes of acute ischemic stroke in type 2 diabetic patients.

Effects of cerebral small vessel disease on the outcome of patients with ischemic stroke caused by large artery atherosclerosis.
DISCUSSION: CSVD can significantly influence the clinical outcome of stroke in patients with cerebral infarction caused by LAA, and the methods to capture whole brain CSVD burden cross the spectrum of changes in CSVD imaging features may be useful for patient stratification in clinical trials. Genetic polymorphisms of vitamin D3 metabolizing CYP24A1 and CYP2R1 enzymes in Turkish patients with ischemic stroke.
Conclusion This is the first study conducted regarding the association of CYP24A1 rs927650 and CYP2R1 rs10741657 genetic polymorphisms and ischemic stroke risk. The polymorphic genotypes of these polymorphisms, together with hypertension, diabetes, smoking, and obesity, were found as significant risk factors for ischemic stroke. U0126 protects hippocampal CA1 neurons against forebrain ischemia-induced apoptosis via the ERK1/2 signaling pathway and NMDA receptors.

Elevated CRP at admission predicts post-stroke cognitive impairment in Han Chinese patients with intracranial arterial stenosis.
CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first study to explore the effects of CRP on PSCI in Han Chinese with ICAS. Our findings indicate that higher CRP levels at admission are associated with subsequent cognitive decline in Han Chinese patients with ICAS following ischemic stroke. Transorbital Doppler with carotid siphon monitoring detects right-to-left shunt effectively.
Conclusion TOD with CS monitoring is able to detect RLS effectively in different populations including healthy subjects, cryptogenic stroke, transient ischemia attack, and migraine patients.
