Microalbuminuria in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: MAU was found in approximately one-third of patients with acute ischemic stroke. It was correlated with the severity of cerebral infarction at admission and clinical outcomes at 3 months after onset and could be used as a potential indicator of poor prognosis in ischemic stroke patients. Family history of stroke and death or vascular events within one year after ischemic stroke.
CONCLUSION: This study suggests that maternal stroke history, age<55 years at stroke onset and thrombotic stroke in the patients with a family history are associated with poor outcomes after stroke. Low-dose rt-PA may not decrease the incidence of symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage in patients with high risk of symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests that low-dose intravenous rt-PA for high-risk sICH stroke in Chinese patients may not decrease the incidence of sICH, and concomitant with a poor outcome compared to standard-dose rt-PA. Exposure to female estrous is beneficial for male mice against transient ischemic stroke.
CONCLUSION: Exposure to female estrous reduces mortality and improves functional recovery in MCAO male mice. The study provides the first evidence to support the importance of female interaction to male stroke rehabilitation. Increased risk of post-stroke epilepsy in Chinese patients with a TRPM6 polymorphism.
CONCLUSION: The TRPM6 rs2274924 polymorphism may be associated with susceptibility to epilepsy following stroke, and the C allele may be associated with increased risk of post-stroke epilepsy. Portable fibrobronchoscopic treatment for non-severe ischemic stroke-associated pneumonia patients with dysphagia: a pilot study.
CONCLUSION: Sputum suction and alveolar lavage with portable fibrobronchoscope can significantly improve the hypoxia and pulmonary infections, reduce the inflammatory response, and thus improve the prognosis, rendering suction and alveolar lavage with portable fibrobronchoscope as a safe and effective treatment for non-severe ischemic SAP patients with dysphagia. Statin treatment before stroke reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine levels after stroke.
CONCLUSION: Stroke induces changes in the RhoA-ROCK pathway in T-cells. CRP and NIHSS score correlated positively in the study. Statins may have an anti-inflammatory effect as statin treatment before stroke reduces post-stroke pro-inflammatory levels. Early microalbuminuria as a clinical marker for acute cerebral small vessel infarction.
CONCLUSIONS: These findings demonstrate that in patients with acute lacunar infarction, slightly increased microalbuminuria seems to be a potential clinical marker for CSVD. Reversed ophthalmic artery flow following ischemic stroke: a possible predictor of outcomes following carotid artery stenting.
This study provides evidence that CAS is a valid and effective treatment option regardless of whether patients exhibited ROAF or not. Patients without ROAF were significantly more likely to have improved mid-term functional outcomes compared to those with ROAF. In the group without ROAF admission, CRP may play a role in predicting subsequent functional outcomes, whereas admission Barthel Index was a predictor of outcome in the ROAF group. Association analysis of Glutathione S-transferase omega-1 and omega-2 genetic polymorphisms and ischemic stroke risk in a Turkish population.
CONCLUSION: No significant difference was observed between the stroke patients and controls in terms of genotypes and allele distributions. Double combine haplotype CCAA was found to be protective against ischemic stroke when compare to other haplotypes. However, different genotypes of GSTO1 and GSTO2 were observed to have effects on stroke risk in subgroups of diabetics and smokers.
