Exposure to female estrous is beneficial for male mice against transient ischemic stroke.
CONCLUSION: Exposure to female estrous reduces mortality and improves functional recovery in MCAO male mice. The study provides the first evidence to support the importance of female interaction to male stroke rehabilitation. ConclusionThis exploratory clinical trial indicates a signal for the benefit of dietary supplementation with N-Pep-12 for the enhancement of neurorecovery after supratentorial ischemic stroke.
Conclusions: More effort is needed to identify what fetal and maternal factors are associated with low birth weight and IBS. A well-executed prospective birth cohort with a collection of bio-samples and functional data will provide a better understanding of how adversity and the interplay between genetics, epigenetics, and numerous risk factors affect the development of IBS. Mental disorders, such as anxiety and depression, are common after stroke. It was reported, that post-stroke anxiety cumulative incidence reached 57% within the first ten years after stroke was experienced.1 This mental health problem after stroke leads to impaired quality of life1 and poorer activity of daily living.2 Recent meta-analysis established, that the risk of stroke in a person with symptoms of anxiety is even higher compared to the risk of coronary heart disease or heart failure.3 Moreover, anxiety disorder comorbid with symptoms of depression after stroke was associated with increased lethal outcomes.
Aim: To study the effect of cognitive function, fatigue and emotional symptoms on employment after a minor ischemic stroke compared to non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).Material and methods: We included 217 patients with minor ischemic stroke and 133 NSTEMI patients employed at baseline aged 18 –70 years. Minor stroke was defined as modified Rankin scale (mRS) 0–2 at day seven or at discharge if before. Included NSTEMI patients had the same functional mRS. We applied a selection of cognitive tests and the patients completed questionnaires measuring symptoms of anxiety, depression and f atigue at follow up.
