Different infarction patterns in patients with aortic atheroma compared to those with cardioembolism or large artery atherosclerosis
In conclusion, patients with CAP frequently had small cortical lesions or subcortical single lesion. These findings imply that ischemic stroke in aortic atheroma patients is associated with either small emboli or small artery disease.

Stroke-associated infection independently predicts 3-month poor functional outcome and mortality

Spontaneous cervical artery dissection is accompanied by a hypercoagulable state and simultaneous inflammatory condition
ConclusionWe found evidence for a hypercoagulable state in patients with sCAD as indicated by a shortened aPTT, which was associated with a trend to an increased leucocyte count at the same time. Our findings first strengthen the hypothesis that inflammation critically impacts on the occurrence of sCAD, and second linked this condition with a marked affection of the coagulation system.

Thalamic transitory ischemic attacks presenting as Jacksonian sensory march
We report on three cases in which these symptoms were caused by thalamic ischemia. Two patients presented with stereotypically recurring hemiparesthesias lasting 2 –5 min that gradually spread from the face to the arm and leg on one side. A first cerebral magnetic resonance imaging including DWI was negative in both cases, whereas new thalamic infarctions appeared on repeated imaging when clinical symptoms remained. A third case with a thalamic ischemia did not show recurring events, but also presented with purely sensory spreading symptoms. The role of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide in evaluating the prognosis of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage
This study aimed to determine the prognostic value of NT-proBNP in patients with spontaneous ICH. A total of 132 patients from 571 ICH cases in inpatient settings were enrolled in this study. Blood samples from each subject were obtained and analyzed for NT-proBNP on admissio n and on days 4 and 7. Antiplatelet pretreatment and outcomes in intravenous thrombolysis for stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis
In conclusion, after adjusting for confounders, AP was not associated with a higher risk of sICH and worse 3-month functional outcome in AIS treated with intravenous alteplase.
