Abstract No. 565 Trends in utilization of endotracheal anesthesia for mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke in the United States
The literature on uniform baseline parameters and procedural details of general anesthesia in mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is scarce. Given the increasing volume of thrombectomies for acute ischemic stroke (AIS), understanding the effects of endotracheal anesthesia with intubation (ETI) on outcomes is time-critical and imperative. Here, we used a national database to compare the trends in utilization and outcomes of ETI vs non-ETI anesthesia in MT for AIS.

Drivers of Ischemic Stroke Hospital Cost Trends Among Older Adults in the United States
The increased use of neuroimaging and innovations in ischemic stroke (IS) treatment have improved outcomes, but the impact on median hospital costs is not well understood.

Wide Variability in Prethrombectomy Workflow Practices in the United States: A Multicenter Survey INTERVENTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: Prethrombectomy workflows vary widely between experienced centers. Improved awareness of real-world workflows and their variations may help to guide institutions in designing their own protocols of care.

Diagnostic reference levels and median doses for common clinical indications of CT: findings from an international registry
ConclusionsDRLs for CTDIvol and DLP for EUCLID clinical indications from diverse organizations were established and can contribute to dose optimization. These values were usually significantly higher in the US than in Europe.Key Points•Registry data were used to create benchmarks for 10 common indications for CT identified by the European Society of Radiology.•Observed US radiation doses were higher than European for 9 of 10 indications (except chronic sinusitis).•The presented diagnostic reference levels and median doses highlight potentially unnecessary variation in radiation dose.

Safety and efficacy of the surpass streamline for intracranial aneurysms (SESSIA): A multi-center US experience pooled analysis
CONCLUSION: This is the largest cohort study using a 72-96 wire flow diverter. The Surpass Streamline demonstrated a favorable safety and efficacy profile, making it a valuable option for treating not only large but also wide-necked small and medium-sized intracranial aneurysms.PMID:35934939 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221118148

Device use trends in neuroendovascular procedures in the United States from 2015 to 2020
CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrates an increase in the use of flow-diverting stents, nondiverting stents, carotid stents, and reperfusion devices for acute ischemic stroke intervention between 2015 and 2020. Coil use for aneurysmal treatment has declined.PMID:37642975 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231196329

Cerebrovascular Collaterals Correlate with Disease Severity in Adult North American Patients with Moyamoya Disease BRAIN
CONCLUSIONS: As with Moyamoya disease in Asian patients, the presence of cerebrovascular collaterals correlated with the modified Suzuki score for disease severity in North American patients with Moyamoya disease. However, anterior choroidal artery changes, which correlated with increased rates of hemorrhage in Asian studies, were not specific to hemorrhage in North Americans.

Modified Dual-Energy Algorithm for Calcified Plaque Removal: Evaluation in Carotid Computed Tomography Angiography and Comparison With Digital Subtraction Angiography
Objectives: Computed tomography angiography (CTA) is a valuable tool for the assessment of carotid artery stenosis. However, blooming artifacts from calcified plaques might result in an overestimation of the stenosis grade. The aim of this study was to investigate a new dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) technique with a modified 3-material decomposition algorithm for calcium removal in extracranial carotid artery stenosis. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective, institutional review board-approved study, 30 calcified carotid plaques in 22 patients (15 men; mean age, 73 ± 10 years) with clinical suspicion of st...

Pulse Wave Imaging in Carotid Artery Stenosis Human Patients in Vivo
In this study, pulse wave imaging was applied in 111 (n  = 11, N = 13 plaques) patients diagnosed with moderate (>50%) to severe (>80%) carotid artery stenosis to investigate the feasibility of characterizing plaque properties based on the pulse wave-induced arterial wall dynamics captured by pulse wave imaging.
