Significant delay and decreased chance of treatment for acute ischemic stroke patients on remote outer islets of China compared with the main island: the PUTUO Study
CONCLUSION: The diagnosis and treatment of acute ischemic stroke patients from OIs was significantly postponed compared to those from MI. Therefore, new effective and efficient solutions are urgently needed.PMID:37280101 | DOI:10.22605/RRH7574

Development and validation of a novel radiomics-clinical model for predicting post-stroke epilepsy after first-ever intracerebral haemorrhage
ConclusionsThe combined radiomics-clinical model was better able to predict ICH-associated PSE compared to the clinical model. This can help clinicians better predict an individual patient ’s risk of PSE following a first-ever ICH and facilitate earlier PSE diagnosis and treatment.Key Points•Radiomics has not been used in predicting the risk of developing PSE.•Higher Rad-scores were associated with higher risk of developing PSE.•The combined model showed better performance of PSE prediction ability.

Analysis of HLA Variants and Graves ’ Disease and Its Comorbidities Using a High Resolution Imputation System to Examine Electronic Medical Health Records
Hyperthyroidism is a prevalent endocrine disorder, and genetics play a major role in the development of thyroid-associated diseases. In particular, the inheritance of HLA has been demonstrated to induce the highest susceptibility to Graves’ disease (GD). However, thus far, no studies have reported the contribution of HLA to the development of GD and the complications that follow. Thus, in the present study, to the best of our knowledge, for the first time, a powerful imputation method, HIBAG, was used to predict the HLA subtypes among populations with available genome-wide SNP array data from the China Medical University...

Using the Symptom Patient Similarity Network to Explore the Difference between the Chinese and Western Medicine Pathways of Ischemic Stroke and its Comorbidities
CONCLUSION: The research of disease classification based on community detection of symptom-shared patient networks is practical; the common molecular pathway of symptoms and herbs reflects the rationality of TCM herbs on symptoms and the wide range of therapeutic targets.PMID:34899950 | PMC:PMC8654542 | DOI:10.1155/2021/4961738

Spectrum of Neuropsychiatric Manifestations in COVID-19.
Abstract Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged in December 2019 from Wuhan, China. It typically presents with mild upper respiratory tract infection symptoms and may have life threatening complications, including acute respiratory distress syndrome, acute stroke, myocardial infarction, kidney failure, shock, and even death. Coronavirus infections are known to have neuroinvasive potential with consequent neuropsychiatric manifestations. We analyzed COVID-19 adult patients in the TriNetX database, which is a global health collaborative clinical research platform collecting real-time electronic medical records...

New-Onset Geriatric Epilepsy in China: A Single-Center Study.
Conclusions: Autoimmune encephalitis is becoming an increasing risk factor of subsequent epilepsy in older people. Older patients with new epilepsy are more likely to respond to antiepileptic drugs, and drug-resistant epilepsy is uncommon. PMID: 30539903 [PubMed - in process]
