Epidemiology of stroke in the last decade: a systematic review
CONCLUSION: There are few studies that analyse the incidence of CVD and even fewer that analyse its evolution. The overall median remains high, although the figures are heterogeneous across studies. Application of Machine Learning Techniques to Identify Data Reliability and Factors Affecting Outcome After Stroke Using Electronic Administrative Records
Conclusion: Electronic administrative records from this cohort produced reliable outcome prediction and identified clinically appropriate factors negatively impacting most outcome variables following hospital admission with stroke. This presents a means of future identification of modifiable factors associated with patient discharge destination. This may potentially aid in patient selection for certain interventions and aid in better patient and clinician education regarding expected discharge outcomes.

Risk Stratification Tool for Ischemic Stroke: A Risk Assessment Model Based on Traditional Risk Factors Combined With White Matter Lesions and Retinal Vascular Caliber
Conclusion: The risk assessment model of ischemic stroke combined with Fazekas grade of WML and CRAE is superior to the traditional risk factor and the single-index model. This model is helpful for risk stratification of high-risk stroke patients.

Network Mapping of Time to Antithrombotic Therapy Among Patients With Ischemic Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
Conclusion: The proportion of patients receiving antithrombotics within 48 h was higher than previously reported in Australia but remained lower than the standard achieved in North American hospitals. Our process map and network analysis show avenues to shorten the time to antithrombotic.

Underusage of Oral Anticoagulation in Atrial Fibrillation: Can We Prevent More Strokes?
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained arrhythmia in Australia, affecting 2% of the population, and 6% of those over the age of 55 years [1]. The greatest contributor to morbidity and mortality in AF is its association with ischaemic stroke [2]. AF increases the risk of cardioembolic stroke five-fold, with an annual incidence of up to 7% [3]. There have been several validated tools developed to help individualise stroke risk, such as the CHADS2 [4], CHA2DS2-VASc [5], and more recently the CHA2DS2-VA score [6], all of which require the input of several vascular risk factors.
