Use of optical coherence tomography in selected patients with recurrent cryptogenic stroke: A case series and technical discussion
CONCLUSION: Intravascular OCT is a feasible and safe approach to identifying patients with covert carotid wall abnormalities, like carotid WEBs and ulcerated plaques, that are amenable to carotid stenting to reduce recurrent stroke risk.PMID:36628417 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221150472

Neurological manifestations of COVID-19: a retrospective observational study based on 1060 patients with a narrative review
CONCLUSION: Our data are coherent with the published literature. Knowledge of these patterns will make clinicians consider COVID-19 infection when unexplained neurological findings are encountered.PMID:36451533 | DOI:10.1177/02841851221138557

Deep learning prediction of stroke thrombus red blood cell content from multiparametric MRI
CONCLUSIONS: The CNN was able to accurately predict thrombus RBC content using multiparametric MR images, and could provide a means to guide treatment strategy in acute ischemic stroke.PMID:36437762 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221140962

Visualization of thrombus using iterative reconstruction and maximum intensity projection of thin-slice CT images
ConclusionsIR reduces noise and improves resolution. MIP in combination with IR facilitates visualization of thrombus.

Endovascular treatment in patients with middle cerebral artery occlusion of different aetiologies
ConclusionsPatients with acute MCA M1 occlusion stroke due to different pathogeneses had comparable successful recanalization rates and functional independence at 90  days. The optimal management for MCAO patients with different aetiologies requires further research.

Association of left ventricular abnormalities with incident cerebrovascular events and sources of thromboembolism in patients with chronic Chagas cardiomyopathy
Although Chagas cardiomyopathy is related to thromboembolic stroke, data on risk factors for cerebrovascular events in Chagas disease is limited. Thus, we assessed the relationship between left ventricular (LV...

Methotrexate-Induced Stroke-Like Encephalopathy: Beware the Stroke Mimic
We report a case of methotrexate (MTX)-induced stroke-like encephalopathy in an 18-year-old woman, with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, who developed a sudden neurological deficit mimicking a cerebrovascular event. Bain MRI showed hyperintensities on diffusion-weighted-imaging (DWI) with matching apparent diffusion coefficient hypointensities, which also represent the commonest MRI findings in acute cerebral infarction. DWI changes spared the cerebral cortex and did not respect vascular territories, supporting a non-vascular mechanism. MRI plays a crucial role in the diagnostic work-up   and is essential to avoid unnecessar...

An old thrombus may potentially identify patients at higher risk of poor outcome in anterior circulation stroke undergoing thrombectomy
ConclusionThe presence of old thrombi, particularly those with focal hemosiderin, may aid in identifying patients with acute ischemic anterior circulation stroke who are at a higher risk of poor clinical outcome at 3-month follow-up.

In Vitro Analysis of the Efficacy of Endovascular Thrombectomy Techniques according to the Vascular Tortuosity Using 3D Printed Models INTERVENTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: The tortuous vascular anatomy may worsen the first-pass effect and distal emboli rates. The combined techniques failed to show improvement in outcome due to the shearing-off phenomenon of the thrombus during retrieval.

Clinical relevance of incomplete device endothelialization after left atrial appendage closure
ConclusionIDE is common after LAAC, especially in patients with persistent AF, higher left atrial appendage ostial diameter and left atrial size. IDE confers an increased risk for DRT, but may be not necessarily associated with thromboembolic events and poor clinical outcome, providing careful monitoring and continued antithrombotic therapy are given.

Direct carotid artery puncture for acute ischemic stroke: Local experience and systematic review
CONCLUSION: We describe the detailed procedure of the rare case of an emergency DCAP performed at our institution. DCAP provides an alternative treatment method in cases where thrombus removal access cannot be established through traditional methods.PMID:36113459 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221125094
