Impact of the ABCD-GENE Score on Clopidogrel Clinical Effectiveness after PCI: A Multi-site, Real-world Investigation
The objective of this study was to validate the ability of ABCD-GENE score to predict risk for atherothrombotic events in a diverse, real-world population of clopidogrel-treated PCI patients who received clinical CYP2C19 genotyping to guide antiplatelet therapy. A total of 2341 adult patients who underwent PCI, were genotyped for CYP2C19, and received treatment with clopidogrel across four institutions were included (mean age 64±12 years, 35% female, 20% Black). The primary outcome was major atherothrombotic events, defined as the composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, stent thrombosis, or r...

Direct oral anticoagulants compared with vitamin K antagonists for left ventricular thrombus: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: DOACs and VKAs showed no difference in the safety and efficacy of patients with LVT. DOACs might be superior to VKAs for LVT treatment in post-AMI patients.PMID:35400334 | DOI:10.2174/1381612828666220408120832

Effect Modification by Indication to the Risks of Major Thromboembolic Adverse Events in Patients Receiving Intravitreal Anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Treatment: A Population-Based Retrospective Cohort Study
ConclusionsPatients treated with aflibercept or ranibizumab for different indications may be associated with varying risk of TAEs. The findings provide evidence to support treatment selection, taking indications and TAE risk into consideration.

Long-term administration of salvianolic acid A promotes endogenous neurogenesis in ischemic stroke rats through activating Wnt3a/GSK3 β/β-catenin signaling pathway
Acta Pharmacol Sin. 2022 Feb 25. doi: 10.1038/s41401-021-00844-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTStroke is the major cause of death and disability worldwide. Most stroke patients who survive in the acute phase of ischemia display various extents of neurological deficits. In order to improve the prognosis of ischemic stroke, promoting endogenous neurogenesis has attracted great attention. Salvianolic acid A (SAA) has shown neuroprotective effects against ischemic diseases. In the present study, we investigated the neurogenesis effects of SAA in ischemic stroke rats, and explored the underlying mechanisms. An autologous throm...

Role of the renin-angiotensin system in NETosis in the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Biomed Pharmacother. 2022 Feb 14;148:112718. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2022.112718. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMyocardial infarction and stroke are the leading causes of death in the world. Numerous evidence has confirmed that hypertension promotes thrombosis and induces myocardial infarction and stroke. Recent findings reveal that neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are involved in the induction of myocardial infarction and stroke. Meanwhile, patients with severe COVID-19 suffer from complications such as myocardial infarction and stroke with pathological signs of NETs. Due to the extremely low amount of virus detected i...
